His austrian Franz-Joseph-Orden-Großkreuz just appeared at Weitze too. Again he doubled the price and its already reserved. What I find interesting is that he upgraded it with the missing sash. That isn't mentioned in the description. What is your your opinion, should such things be mentioned when done?

(There is still the option that the sash was hidden under the bed, but thats very unlikely as the other grand crosses at the auction were all displayed with the sash)

I think back in the Holy Roman Empire the connection with the sovereign as regimental chief for Leibregimenter was correct (Maybe with some exceptions, I am sure there were some... like always...) If I remember correctly the Großherzogin regiment was renamed to that name later...

I think with the time passing the Leib- name became more or less an honor title...

But I am sure there are members with a much deeper knowledge than me

The first Kompanie of a regiment is also called "Leibkompanie" and normally owned by the Regminetschef (Chief or Owner of the regiment). I once heard from a Oberstleutnant-Kompanie and Major-Kompanie too. Maybe someone has more knowledge about that and can elaborate in more detail.

I found that online, I don't know who owns it, but it is a remarkable ensemble.

Imperial "sash quadruple" - the first and only time I saw that in this painting. Do you now other paintings or pictures were all sashs are worn?

that isn't meant negative, he doesn't know how long it takes to sell it, the money is bound

That was very interesting, he was a man with great taste. What I noticed and think is interesting in picture 6 he wears the Bavarian Hubertus star in precedence bevore the Prussian Black Eagle star, although Lippe was more or less surrounded by Prussia.

EDIT: Inspecting it again I saw it is a RED EAGLE star - so the precedence makes sence

I know this isn't a t&t one, it is a Bourbon-Parma one sold last year. I was just wondering if there are pictures of the other fleeces sold at the t&t auction back in 1992

Another brilliant fleece was sold last year during the Bourbon-Parma auction at Sothebys (for ca. 1.500.000€)

It was owned by Louis-Antoine de Bourbon, Duc d’Angoulême and Comte de Marnes (1775-1844)

The extraordinary neck decoration of Fürst Karl Anselm von Thurn und Taxis (1733-1805) sold by Gloria von Thurn und Taxis in 1992 and now owned by Antonio Spada lown to the Musée de la Légion d'honneur in Paris:

I found this on emedals and thought it is interesting to share. This is a EK II 1870 made out of Gold with wihte enemal. It was used as 1st class cross once, What I think is weird is that the backpin was put there sideway. (Maybe because the ring for the ribbon, was attached with a hinge and therefore if the ring is put down, so that it can't be seen from the front, there wasn't enough space for the EKI hinge, if you don't want to dextroy the crown?)

Has anyone ever seen such a cross before?

what a beautiful ribbon bar in extraordinary condition. Although not my field of collecting, I love Lippe stuff. There must have been a big sell off of Fürst Leopold IVs things, his amazing Gala-uniform is on offer at Weitze as you might know:

Although I can read and write deutsche Sütterlinschirft, I have trouble to decipher some single words, especially if the handwriting isn't done perfectly neat or if a more elaborate form of german handwriting than Sütterlin is used. I understand roughly what the text is about, but a full litteral translation is hard for me...

What a stunning, perfectly made bar, your pieces are alwys fantastic

Very interseting is that it took 24 years after becoming Leutnant to get hist first decoration (except the Centenary), knowing  that tells us again to appreciate small cheaper groups as much as these stunning ones, it took many years to earn them.

Those grand crosses are amazing!

Unfortunately it is most likely completly ripped apart, i guess...
