    1. Now that I have some time I will be listing some of the groups that I pulled out of storage. This group was recently traded for and now one of my prize groups. The medal group belonged to Colonel William T. Sexton who was the Division Artillery Commander of the Third Infantry Division during WWII. The group consists of the basic US medals and the OBK 2nd Class. The set came from his daughter by a third party, and unfortunately there are no award documents for the US or Russian medals. Included in the phots I am posting are two showing Sexton wearing the OBK with Russian officers. The Order of Bogdan Kmelnistky is in excellent condition except for the some scratches on the reverse. The serial number is 1278 which seems strange because in Paul Schmitt book no 1277 is shown on page 119. The recent article in the OMSA of Russian awards to American serviceman list one OBK being awarded, the list is not a final tally but rather what is now known. I will have the serial number researched and will post any information that I receive on the award. As I also collect American medal groups along with the Russian awards this makes this a great find for my collection. Regards Jim
    2. Hello everyone something happen and I could not get logged in to answer the questions. I am now traveling and will be back later to answer any questions and to post more groups. Regards Jim
    3. Re: Glory groups I have another 4 or 5 that I will try to get up before long. Jim
    4. The page is stuck to the next so I tenderly pulled it back and the privileges started in 1944. Regards Jim
    5. Once again this enlisted goup fit right in my collecting theme at the time. The Glories are awarded to Sergeant Major Petr Pavlovich Gerasimenko. I purchased this group even though the 2nd class had some idiot painted the center, and then someone else tried to rub th gold paint off. I always thought I would take the time and get all the gold paint off but here it is ten year later and I still like the set. Missing a couple items but still a nice group. The booklet is rather beat but still I like that better than a new issued one. Jim
    6. Another early purchase I zeroed in on medals for enlisted personal as I was one back in 1966-68. This set show much wear and is awarded to Private Mikhail Iosifovich. I have not researched this set and plan on getting a lot of research done i the future. I was attracted to the set because of the wear on the ribbons and the great shape of the 2nd class gold plating. Just a neat group. If memory serves me correct it was a $300.00 investment at the time. Jim
    7. This is one of my earlier buys the pair are to Junior Sergeant Mikhail Valdimirovich Getmansky. Both are duplicate medals and are of thin construction. I remember I purchased them because they were the thin type. I have the Defense of Caucasus, Capture of Berlin & Victory over Gremany medals, missing are the following Medals for Valor 1678894, Order of the Red Star 301371, and Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class 579692. Sergeant Getmansky was a layer of 120MM Mortars, 1038th Rifle Reg, the 3rd class was awarded for action in the village of Dorotskoye. He helped to repel a German attack, eliminated over thirty German men and officers. 2nd Class for action in the city of Kyustrin, Germany where he eliminated 12 enemy soldiers. Both medals are with stamped serial numbers and the 2nd class appears to have been replated, I am not sure on this but it's my guess. Thought it was a neat group with the glories being duplicates and the thin style. Now I hope that they are correct. Regards Jim
    8. Photo Page, any help on the uniform rank and possible branch of service. Regards Jim
    9. This is another item that caught my eye, I have always been interested in the pre war fighting between the Soviet Union and Japan. I really don't have any books on this period and would like to learn more about it. Anyway as I said this combination just screamed buy me and and all of the information that I have is the guys name Mikhail Ivanovich Nadezhkin and that it was awarded in 1/07/40. Is this a late period for this award? Can anyone tell me anything about his uniform re-branch of service and rank. I do not know anything about Soviet uniforms. Regards Jim
    10. I purchased this Order of Ushakov early in my Soviet collecting, just thought it was a neat looking medal. The order booklet has the medal listed by number but also has a previous award of the same medal. Is this a medal that was ever awarded twice to the same individual? I was suspicious at the time but the price was slightly more that the value of the medal at the time so, it is a multi piece construction. The photo does not due the medal justice its much sharper. I am having a real problem getting the photos down to the 65K size. Would appreciate your thoughts. Regards Jim
