    1. Have a read of this thread: https://gmic.co.uk/topic/17469-not-magnetic-eks/
    2. Chris, I will have to have another look now as I swore I could not see anything although I might be deceived. Thank you for your response!
    3. Hi All, Just going through my collection and doing some cataloguing. I am wondering who manufactured this crude (in my opinion) EK2 1914? I’m a bit out of practice on identifying iron cross cores
    4. Chris - I have heard opposing views on this Kriegsmarine explanation.
    5. Yes they look like the other examples that I have seen, and actually they do appear in Maerz.
    6. Chris, Even mineral oil? Have you tried this before?
    7. Jason, thank you for your comment about the stamp I didn’t know that! Yes it has that beautiful blue finish.
    8. Some beauties there. Is that an 1870 core? Would I be able to see some closer photographs of it? I am eager to know whether they rust through completely over the years
    9. Sorry for the delayed reply - yes I agree that the cross is a CF Zimmermann example. I was told by the vendor that it was a Godet cross but this is incorrect. The core is text book Zimmermann of course
    10. There are several examples of British soldiers being awarded the Iron Cross. Many of these soldiers appear to be medical staff situated in Sudwest Afrika. There is an Iron Cross/Military Cross group in a friend’s collection to a medical officer who fought in the Herero Wars on the German side and then in World War One on the British side. It is a very special group!
    11. Hi all, I am going through my collection and cataloguing my medals. I am up to the cataloguing of my Iron Cross collection and came across this EKII 1914 which I thought was of extra-special quality. The ring is stamped ‘M’ and as far as I know, this is not attributed to a known manufacturer. I thought that the detailing on the cross was very nice! Perhaps it is just me, but I certainly have less high-quality examples in my collection.
    12. Looks fantastic! What did you fix the Iron Cross to the backing material with?
    13. The one on the right looks gently vaulted is that correct?
