    1. Hello everyone, This is just an observation I've noticed ever since I got into this hobby. Almost every Wikipedia page of a German royal I've browsed rarely contains a British honour but when I check the awards of British royals, especially in the Victorian/Edwardian period, it is completely the opposite as they seemingly have awards from every major state. Even puzzling, most of the ruling heads of these individual States rarely received the Order of the Garter and rarely the Order of the Bath or the Royal Victorian Order. This trend continues to this day with most current heads of state never receiving courtesy exchanges. My question: Were the rulers of the different states offended when the Brits didn't bestow the Order of the Garter or even worse, nothing to them? They were still considered sovereigns even as they joined the German empire.
    2. Gentlemen, Thank you for your responses. I want to inquire further as to whether this combination is possible and if so, which unit would this possible person serve in? Perhaps Ordnungspolizei or one of those SS Polizei units? Thank you.
    3. I recently came across this medal bar that was for sale a few years ago. It has been on my mind ever since I saw it. My question is if there is any way we can trace its owner or at least a potential unit he served in and an estimated timeline of his career. He was a former policeman and served in the Anschluss judging from his 3R awards. Interestingly, he received the highest bravery orders from two respective countries: the Order of the Iron Trefoil (Croatia) and the Order of Bravery (Bulgaria). In addition, he also has a clasp on his Romanian Crusade against Communism medal which is a rare sight. Thank you for your help!
    4. Daniel, thank you once more for your vast knowledge and experience! Related question: did the SD or the Gestapo receive the police long service award or the faithful service award for civil servants?
    5. Gentlemen, I recently stumbled on an old picture saved early on in my ODM interests. The bar itself is most likely fake due to its suspicious devices but what caught my eye again was that it contained both a 25Y Police Long Service Award and 12Y SS Long Service Award. My question is: is this combination possible? I know of examples where policemen were also in the SS at the same time so could they've received both? In addition, does anyone know if the members of some RHSA (SD, Gestapo, Krimpo) received both LSAs due to jurisdictions and duties overlapping? People like Heydrich and Nebe come into mind as possible recipients of both.
    6. Thank you Daniel! From your files, can you confirm whether he served in a Prussian unit or another German kingdom’s army during the war? Appreciate the help.
    7. I thought so too in the beginning but the Order of st alexander ranks higher in precedence so it would've been placed in front. He may have recieved one as an officer cadet, Ive heard of such things happening. Thank you for your insights nonetheless!
    8. Long time lurker but finally decided to make an account I am hoping to identify the awards on the medal bar of Sigurd von Ilsemann who was the adjutant to Kaiser Wilhelm II after he abdicated. Little information is know about him other than that he fought in the Champagne-Ardenne campaign in WW1 and reached the rank of Hauptmann. From this one photo I found online, I can determine the following awards: 1. Iron Cross 1st Class 2. House Order of Hohenzollern, Knight with Swords 3. Order of the Red Eagle, 4th Class with Swords on war ribbon 4. Albert Order, Knight's Cross 1st Class with swords 5. Saxon Order of Merit, Knight Second Class 6. Order of the Zähringer Lion Knight, First Class 7. Fredrich August medal based on the stripes? 8. ? 10. Austro-Hungarian Military merit cross 11. ? 12. ? For the 11th award, my initial thoughts was the unofficial Champagne campaign cross but its placement as a foreign award doesn't make sense. For the 12th one, the Bulgarian order of St alexander comes into mind but the shield in the center threw me off. Any help is appreciated!
