    1. Hello all, When looking at this ribbon bar, I'd like to find out why there is a EK2 clasp but no service award(s). Could it mean that the clasp was awarded very early in the war, or is it nothing more but a device added recently? I see these larger examples on the web (at least those with one or two of the same Saxon awards), yet haven't figured out regarding the ribbon bar below... Thank you, Laurens http://www.hermann-historica.de/auktion/hh...;db=kat48_2.txt http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/related/ribbons/ww2.htm
    2. As it indeed seems they (Order of the Star and Order of the Crown) were awarded to officers, then I'm still troubled by the lack of the Eastern Front medal. Could it be that this person served on a homefront, although the presence of the Crusade against Communism ribbon? Or is that were you're pointing at, Rick, with the periodical mistake? Thanks for all input so far! Laurens
    3. and another detail from the reverse:
    4. Hello Kevin, My bad for not showing the reverses right away... So for the second bar, the combination of the two Romanian orders is possible in combination with the (probable) 4 and 12 yrs. service ribbons and no Eastern Front ribbon? The Eastern Front medal was relatively easy to receive, but I don't know about the two Romanian awards... Cheers, Laurens
    5. Hello all, May I have your opinion on these two ribbon bars, please? I am not completely sure regarding the 1939 Spange as I have no other examples to compare with. As for the second bar, it has two different devices and comes with two Romanian ribbons. Any concerns? Thanks, Laurens
    6. I was indeed referring to the Manchukuo medal. I tend to use the name Manchuria more often, but Manchukuo is more correct (so I believe). In the four to five years I have been looking at Japanese militaria, I have only seen the 'lowest' medal, awarded for men. Are there any other known examples?
    7. Hello Gentlemen, To shift your attention to a new question on this informative thread, I would like to know if there is a relation with the Manchurian Red Cross medal. The ribbon has the same lay-out, except the four vertical stripes are colored in yellow instead of bright white. The design on the medal is not very different from the Japanese medals. Were they made by Japanese firms as well, or are they seen seperately? My apologies for not having any photos at the moment as I don't own one yet... Thanks, Laurens
    8. Thank you, Christophe. I am afraid I have been caught by the 'Imperial' bug and I am now making my first small steps into this new world. As a sidenote, is the colour of the swords the indication for being 1st or 2nd class in my case? Let me also congratulate you for the nice bar you have, among the many others in your superb collection. Best regards, Laurens
    9. Dear sirs, For a first thread on this forum, I would like to hear your opinions on the following 2-place ribbon bar. I am posting this little bar hoping to find the meaning of the second ribbon with swords device. My search was unsuccessful so far. As I can see, the ribbon is made of three colours. The main colour is purple, with a small black stripe and a wider dark-gold stripe on each side. What do you think? Best regards, Laurens Ps: The picture of the bar was taken while resting on a plastic easel, hence the two corners left and right...
