    1. ...Pete, that's a nice looking SA tinnie... ...here's another SA Meissen-made porcelain disc....and NOT listed in Tieste... ...it's the same size as the previous one I posted (37mm dia)....but doesn't have the brass-like attachment.... ...I'm really liking these porcelain made discs! ...front side... "Treu Unserm F?hrer, Alles F?r Deutschland" .
    2. ...it's fair to say that I have a one track mind ...my wish-list is taken from both books, and only consists of thirteen 'wants'....as for SA tinnies in general...I'm happy enough to bumble along picking up what I can find...my only criteria is that the tinnie I buy must always be in the best possible condition...i.e, no rust, no damage, and with original needle still attached....I don't mind if a small part of the original finish has worn down a bit, as this sometimes helps to highlight the fine artwork of the tinnie...
    3. ..reverse side of same disc...and you can clearly see the brass-like attachment that is used.... "Meissen Albrechtsburg, Standarte 101" .
    4. ...something new.... ...another SA.... ...previously I had posted two examples of SA Meissen-made porcelain disc's...each is about 50mm in dia...and neither appears in Tieste...so I'm not sure if they were actually worn as a 'tinnie'...or just handed out as a 'taking part' type of thing....neither of them has an attachment for ease of wear... ...unlike this example...which does appear in Tieste... ..a smaller (37mm dia) disc...with an attachment....and if anyone here know's of a dealer with spare attachments please let me know...I have another similar sized disc without the attachment (which I will post later).... ...the detail on this porcelain disc is quite wonderful...here is the front side... "SA Standartenaufmarsch, Meissen, 14./15.IV.1934" .
    5. ...sounds like a good plan to me.... ...and seeing as how this thread is all about the SA.... ...then it's only fair to have mention of the most well known SA-mann... ...Horst Wessel.... ...or maybe mention him twice! "Horst Wessel Ehrenmalweihe Roth b. N?rnberg 10.Sept.1933" "Horst Wessel Ehrenmalweihe Vogelsgr?n i.V. 18.Juni 1933" .
    6. "Wettkampftage der SA Gruppe Niedersachsen, 26.-27.9.1936, Braunschweig" .
    7. "Kampfsporttage der SA Gruppe "Nordsee" d. N.S.D.A.P. in Bremen, 18.-20.August 1933" .
    8. ...thanks for the positive comments gentlemen...it's always appreicated... ...the style of this badge reminds me of the old US Marshal badges from the cowboy days...(black & white cowboy films are always good to watch :-) ...with regards to this SA badge, with its fat looking SA emblem, it measures approx 51mm across......I wonder what the 'M.O' means ? "Herbst-Parade 1933, SA Brigade M.O." .
    9. ...as an after-thought...and to carry on an idea of Colin's... ...if the SA-Gruppe Sachsen is a Marine unit... ...then maybe they also knew this song...the song is actually written for Marine-SA-Sturmbann III/2 based in Leipzig.... "Im Marinesturm" (Marschlied der Marine S.A.) .
    10. ....'yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!'.... ...I'm assuming this 'SA-Gruppe Sachsen' are a Marine unit....even though Lauenhain is nowhere near the coast... "SA Sport-Wehrkampftag SA-Gruppe Sachsen, Lauenhain, 3.u.4.Juli 1937" .
    11. ...I too have thought about the men that may have worn the very badge I now own...how they felt attending a local SA 'treffen'...how their lives developed during the war-years, did they survive?... ..and the other thing that comes to mind is that during the entire 3rd Reich period, there must have been already then, collectors of these badges....so somewhere throughout Germany, are there lofts with a hidden-away tinnie collection put together by children of those times, just imagine the gems that are still to be found!... ...and back to reality with a bump... ...a nice looking 'physical' SA tinnie....that is NOT listed in Tieste......(double-checked the 5th edition).... ...but whilst this particular tinnie is not listed, there is a nearly identical version listed as = (SA 34-01) "SA-Sportwettkampf Sturmbann II/29, 3. u. 10. Juni 1934" ....which has the same artwork, but different date and SA unit number... ...my version is = "SA Sport-Treffen Sturmbann III/439, Witzenhausen, 1 Juli 1934" .
    12. ...I know it's bad form to talk money.....but...it would have to be a very special tinnie for me to consider buying it in the UK....the prices that get asked here are mental....I recently saw a SA tinnie being sold at ?145.00...let's say in condition 3- ....I had bought the same SA tinnie, in condition 1-, for about 40 Euros.... ...I know I will never ever be able to collect all the SA tinnies that are featured in Tieste....I will be quite happy with a select gathering of the best that I can find from time to time...plus, like all collectors, regardless of what it is that is collected, I have a highly desired 'wish-list' that I'd like to see fulfilled before I turn to dust...something to pass on to baby Claymore... ...it is strange that non-swastika tinnies are quite so popular...I see them quite often, but they do nothing for me...one man's "hooray" is another man's "yawn".... ...and as I'm also not a fan of insomnia, 'tis time to say G'night!... PS....got new SA on the way...keep watching!
    13. ...sounds like a way to be bankrupt! ..I'm more of a single-minded, dedicated to one cause, kind of puppy... ...my 'wish-list' is currently being stealthily circulated around in Deutschland.... ...and whilst I am very possesive of my collection... ...I will quite happily share it with the select GMIC elite who can appreciate what it's all about!
    14. ...woah!....Man on a Mission!..... ...what a diverse range of tinnies...are they all new or part of your exisiting collection? ...and is there any particluar tinnie that you look for or is it generally any kind of tinnie? ...either way, all really nice....I especially like the detail on the plastic tinnies...always so sharp... ...many thanks!
    15. ...thanks for sharing Colin... ...I've been keen to add the 'Braunschweig treffen' badge to my collection....but the diverse range of 'solid-back' & 'hollow-back' versions, with or without 'RZM'...etc, etc....and the huge discussions that go on about what makes it a real example or a fake.....'soft-edged eagle'....'hard-edged eagle'....dot's beside the date number's or not...how the letters are finished off... ...all of which just made me give up trying to work it out...too many pro's and cons...
    16. Hi Colin.... What a surprise this morning! A new thread dedicated solely to SA tinnies.... ...I guess that means the pressure is on to keep coming up with the goods! I would really like to see 'treffen' programmes featuring the tinnie....but not so much the N?rnberg programmes, that's a bit too easy I think....it would be nice to see the smaller events....the idea of collecting postcards as a background is also good...I've never seen a postcard with any of my SA tinnies, but I have seen postcards with combat and sports awards... ...those two SA cardboard tinnies are fantastic...really good to see in such great condition.... ...I only have one cardboard tinnie so far.... "Appell der SA-Standarte 153, G??nitz, 17.2.35" .
    17. ...thanks Colin....just happened to be in the right place at the right time! ...the Brigade 34 meet occured in Chemnitz '35.....I wonder if this badge below is for the same group... ...a nicely made 'Efoplast' material... "Wettkampftage Der SA-Gruppe Sachsen, Chemnitz, 2.-3.Juli 1938"
    18. ....what makes you think that ??? ...a small candid snap-shot of a SA musikkapelle in action... .
    19. Hi Laurens, Good, good.... ...I have seen a couple of very expensive 1930's period SA uniform books with excellent coloured drawings...but the prices asked were really crazy... ...here's another SA musiker portrait...an enlarged 'passport' sized photo...
    20. ...BLIMEY !!!...you just exploded along the thread....I'm sure one of the mod's will sort it out for you.... ...yes, my badge also has 'Wernstein Jena' along the reverse bottom edge... ...and truth be told, I only noticed just now because you asked me to look for it... ..as for a digital camera...doesn't really matter what make it is, as long as you use one with the best 'mega-pixels' you can afford....mine is a middle of the road 4.0 mega-pixels....works fine enough for both badges and family....
    21. ...what books would you recommend for the study of SA uniforms ??? ...two modern references that are my library are: "The SA ; A Historical Perspective" by Jill Halcomb (signed by author!) "Collectors Guide to Sturmabteilung Insignia" by David Fuller (signed by author!) ...does anyone else have recommendations ???
    22. ....okay then..back to me... ...a strong art deco eagle image on this one... "S.A.Brigade 42, Jena, 8.April 1934"
