Prob is gents, it is illegal to export Russian state awards, that's why you mostly only see ministerial or departmental level awards on the western market. When you do see a state award, seriously question its authenticity unless from a reputable dealer/auction house with full provenance (docs).

I need your help... I'm missing this clasp (loop) afixing the commander's neck badge to the cravate... By some miracle, would anybody have such a part for sale lying at the bottom of an old drawer?

Here's a stupid question... Is it mounted backwards? Should the crown and lightning bolts be the obverse? -

What's the other medal all 3 of them seem to also be wearing?? It's surmounted by an imperial eagle like the original MM but isn't... Any idea?
-
And they (EF, Falot and Sacristan) are unfortunately to most often copied...
-
Me again... Personally, I'd stay clear of it. Every time I look at the pics again it screams copy... Never purchase any 2nd Empire campaign medal with a ball mount! Play safe, go for a model signed by BARRE, pay under $400. A Mexico medal by any other engraver would be an incredible stroke of luck. Don't look for a super detailed medal, they were kind of plain and rather flat. If the medal seems to have a lot of depth to it, it's probably a fake. Here's mine below.

My 2 cents worth... The lettering on both the obverse and reverse doesn't give me any warm and fuzzy, lot's of wear, some misalignments... Also, I'm always very weary of a ball mount on these...

russian federation Changes to Russian Air Force heraldry
TacHel posted a topic in Russian Federation
Order 470 of the minister of defence of the Russian Federation of 1 August 2015 merges together the Air Defence Forces and Space Forces under the new designation : "Aerospace Forces". The extensive order contains changes to military heraldry, the basic emblem of the Air Force and all items where it appears (flags, insignia, awards, etc) are amended. This is the new "wings & star" insignia for caps, it replaces the old Soviet style insignia. The change to the basic emblem of the Air Force is the addition of an eight pointed star at the meeting place of the propeller and the cannon. This new insignia denotes the commander in chief of aerospace forces. It is presented to the Commander of Aerospace Forces in a solemn ceremony by the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation or on his behalf by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces - First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation. It is worn over the right breast pocket. -

russian federation Medal for service in aerospace forces
TacHel replied to TacHel's topic in Russian Federation
The same order creates two new decorations (breast badges). The decoration "For merit" and the decoration "For distinction" of Aerospace Forces. The basic design is similar to the already existing decorations of the Air Force with the addition of an eight point star at the meeting point of the cannon and propeller at centre. The decoration "For merit" of Aerospace Forces is awarded to officers and and warrant officers in military service with aerospace forces for five or more calendar years: for the exemplary performance of military duty, skilful and competent management of the actions of subordinates on duty crews, for high performance indicators; for services in the planning, organization and delivery of air defence combat duty crews (operational service); for high results in education of subordinate personnel or in the development of new equipment and weapons; for professional excellence, excellent performance in combat training and field (air) training. The decoration "For distinction" of Aerospace Forces is awarded to soldiers, sergeants and master sergeants, in military service under contract in the Aerospace Forces for five years or more (if class qualification at least second class): for outstanding achievements in the development of weapons, military and special equipment, and exemplary military discipline; for the successful fulfillment of special tasks; for excellent performance in combat training and skills for at least two years. By the same stroke, the decorations of the Air Force "For merit" and "For distinction" and the decoration of Space Forces "For merit" are abolished.
