    1. I really hated leggings! But I was there!

    2. I recently acquired a handwritten xerox copy of what I believe to be James W. Peterson's original draft of OMSA Monograph No. 1, "Orders & Medals of Japan And Associated States". Of interest is what was not published in the current monograph. These notes cover additional information on medals and orders of Korea, Manchukuo, and Inner Mongolia. He also wrote a section on medals of "The Reorganized National Government of China' which includes the Order of United Glory, Order of the Brilliant Jade, Decoration to Japanese Comrades (so-called collaborator medal),and Peaceful National Foundation Commemorative Medal. There are also descriptions of some unidentified medals. As soon as I have time to examine these documents in greater detail I will publish the results. The Documents came from the Yasinitsky Collection Richard LaTondre
    3. I agree, but Paul has given some insight on the Manchurian items earlier. In my opinion it should have gone for about $1,450.00 to $1,650.00 without the case,
    4. Hi Alex, Unfortunately no. I bid $666.00 for the 2nd Class (silver) Merit medal and the high bid was $860.00. I bid 666.00 on the Zhao-Hengti Hunan (Henan) Military Governor medal and the high bid was $785.00 I couldn't afford to go any higher but know I feel that maybe I should have taken out a loan. They were truly beautiful medals. Richard
    5. Well it certainly appears to be the case and congrats on your earlier buys. Dick

Do a search on his past auctions and they may be there or you can find it through his feedback. He had the Gold colored medal and Silver Colored medal (as from literal translation on the boxes).
    7. That is why the oither box you said was the silver medal and sold earlier on eBay was not! I can read the box also.
    8. [/bA Third Class order of the Auspicious Clouds sold on eBay yesterday for $2,107 which appears somewhat high for this particular medal minus a case.
    9. Two interesting Warlord medals appeared this week on eBay. The first is the Yuan Shih-kai Merit Medal, Second Class, with its unique hand carved wooden case. This was given during the BeiYang period and issued by the Office of the Warlord in Shan-Xi province (1911-1927). The winning bid was $860.00. There were 17 bids (Including a couple of mine). The second medal was also a BeiYang (Northern Area) medal and was issued by Zhao Hengti while He was the Henan (Hunan) Military Governor. This is the first time that I have ever seen this medal. It is not in the Mohler collection at Stanford and in my opinion, quite rare. There were 16 bids (including mine) and the winning bid was $785.00.
    10. Linus - I meant no disrespect, but if you are going to collect "Kuo Min Tang Breast Stars" I think you need to research your subject a little more thoroughly. I will respect your wishes and not make any further comments. Good Luck. Richard
    11. Are you actually considering buying these items, or is this a joke?
    12. Thank you Alex. You are a true gentleman . . . . . . .
    13. Thank you for your comments Alex. It is in mint condition and it is the first time that I was able to obtain the document certificate. My friend Brian Wolfe painstakingly showed me how to shrink the pictures but my computer crashed and I lost my old picture processing program. Richard
    14. Good Morning Alex! Not only was I too stupid to post a link, I was too stupid to be able to reduce the size of the photo to the GMIC standards. I hope this works for you. The medal is rather interesting to me because of who it was awarded to. Best Regards, Richard http://www.omsa.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5584 www.thegoldenkite.com USMCGungHo@aol.com
    15. One of the orders that I was able to acquire was this beautiful, mint Second Class Order of the Rising Sun. This decoration was awarded to a caucasian making it even more interesting. It was awarded by the Emperor to Sir John Waldron, Knight Commander Victoria Order for Services in 1971. Sorry. I cannot upload the images, but you can see them on the OMSA website.
    16. Hello Hugh, No it dose not, but of course . . . . . . I haven't seen everything. Richard
    17. Hello Linas: I do not recall ever seeing a Thai Breast Badge in only one color. In this case blue. The answer may be in the reverse of the medal. It should be at least gilded in a gold wash and highly polished. If it is a dull grey rough finish it is very suspect. In any event I wish you the best of luck in your acquisition.
    18. Is the only color of the cloisonne blue? Richard
    19. Hi Linas, I hate to be the messenger with the bad news but your medal looks somewhat suspect. I would need to see good close up views of the reverse. Richard
    20. Mike will be at the Japanese Sword Show in Burlingame the 19th of August. If you can make it, I will be happy to introduce you to him he is sn old friend. I will also be with him at the OMSA convention earlier this month. Will you be going? Richard
    21. Do you have any pictures of these medals? Pricing etc. Maybe I am missing something. Regards, Richard
