Hi Chris,
I read: "Herr Ob. Lt. Schimke - 3/2 Garde - Osten, den 20.2.17 - gehört mit zu unseren Gruppen."
Maybe a closeup from the shoulderboard is helpful!?
Best regards,
Jens

Why does this thing, currently on sale for 1450 Euros, remind me of Kyle from South Park ????
Hi, the auction was 2nd of march in germany - he payed around ~80 Euro for this badge, EK1* and VWA.
I had the badge in my hands and I don't bid for this set!
Best regards,
Jens
* EK1 back was damaged (broken needle, etc.)

Hi Marcin,
I read "6.8.14 b. Ers. Btl. Ldw. J. R. 18 / 4. Kp." = 6.8.14 beim Ersatz-Bataillon Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr.18 / 4. Kompanie (later 7. and 5. Kompanie).
"10.1217 b. Wi. Komp. 270" = Wirtschafts-Kompanie 270 (later Wirtschafts-Kompanie 268).
Last entry (and stamp) is from the Danziger-Infanterie-Regiment Nr.128.
Best regards,
Jens

This tunic has a standing collar. Only cavalry regiments had them.

... the officer commanding each company usually was awarded the REO as a prize. ...
Hi Ulsterman,
normaly the officer received a silver-frame (Erinnerunszeichen) not the Red-Eagle-Order.

This is the sleeve badge for the "Kaiserschießpreis für die Artillerie 1912"
English: Kaiser's Shooting Prize for Artillery
Awarded for excellence with their weapons. It's a unit award.
Hi,
it's the "Kaiserabzeichen" (or "Kaiserpreis"), it's a unit award for a company or a battery. With the Kings-crown there are
artillery-units from Bayern, Württemberg or Sachsen possible: Kaiserpreis (Schiesswettbewerb von 1895 bis 1913) – GenWiki
The "Kaiserschießpreis" is a special kind of lanyard (Kaiserschnur or Chefschnur - here Nr. 10 or 11).
Best regards,
Jens

Tach,

Hi,
He does some artistic loopy H... same in the H in Heinrich... almost like ScHarfscHützen HeinricH
... yes - I see the "h" in Heinrich - in my opinion not correct! I never seen this "artistic loopy" before and never heard about!
Sorry - I have some doubts about the handwriting-style on the documents. Maybe you can show some higher resolution scans!?
I hope I'm wrong! Best regards,
Jens
p.s.: and on this document the name and unit (is in my opinion) printed (see the "e": four-times the same letter).

Hi Chris,
what is one the iron-cross 2. class writen: "Schharfschhützen ..." !?!? (must be: Scharfschützen).
Can you please scan all three signatures (1:1) from the Leutnant M. Wagner signed documents!?
Best regards,
Jens
p.s.: you checked the regimental-history!? Heinrich v. Both: "Geschichte des 6ten Garde-Infanterie-Regiments", Aus Deutschlands großer Zeit Bd. 41, Zeulenroda 1931, Sporn.

Hi,
it is a members cross of a veterans organization (Militärverein) in Plaue, the organization had been founded in 1886. Common, as many other crosses and medals in Germany. As Bernhard wrote it before.
There are three Plaue, and this could be Plaue as part of the town Flöha in Saxony, based on the white/green ribbon.

Hi,
I agree - similar to this: Vereinsabzeichen

... in the same Verlustliste (PR. 71) is a "Hptm. Erich Schultze - Glentorf, Braunschweig - gefallen" (3. Komp., Inf.-Rgt. Nr.97).
... one page before: "Hptm. Fritz Graumann - Freiburg i. B. - leicht verwundet" (1. Komp., Inf.-Rgt. Nr.97).
Best regards,
Jens

Its seems an officer named Fritz Graumann was in the same unit...
... a Hauptmann Fritz Graumann is threetimes listed in the Verlustliste: Suche in den Verlustlisten des 1. Weltkriegs
... two regiments from the XXI. Armeekorps: 1. Oberrheinische Inf.-Rgt. Nr.97 and the Landwehr-Inf.-Rgt. Nr.60
But you are sure with: "Schulzte" !??? Maybe: Schulze or Schultze or Schultz .... ???
Best regards,
Jens

Hi,
I think: "II" or the "III" behind a name: there was more than one with the same familyname in the same unit!? (like: (Hans) Meyer I, (Wilhelm) Meyer II, etc. ...).
And the "A.1" maybe mean: "Anlage Nummer 1" (attachment number 1) !???
Best regards,
Jens0 -
Hi, this stickpin is 3.5 cm... does anyone know what it is?
