    1. Tim, the prices for YU award are still very volatile, especially these days. I saw OPS3 (soviet made) sold at auction by Kersten Zeige (http://www.zeige.com/index2.html) for nett ?30. But this price is unusual low. Unfortunately I discovered this auction too late, they sold two nice documents. I see YU made OPS3 now for $90 - $100 http://www.emedals.com or ?60 at http://www.numfil.ru (only for russian market). I hope you will be able to buy it cheaper. w.
    2. Yes, it is first mover advantage - I think. Here is another photo, this time from my photo-safari in Croatia. Mix of Soviet and Yugoslavian made Order of Partisan Star 3rd cl. w.
    3. Great image Tim, thank you for sharing it looks like a department of a museum. I saw some such orders in min condition, I believe that they comes from IKOM, after this factory was privatized and archives and other storage facility partly, destroyed or thrown away. This is what I heard from the people in Zagreb. w.
    4. You are right, There is a book about iron cross issued a couple of months ago in Munich. The book is sold off. A friend put it in that way: app. 7.000 of this award were awarded and there are 50.000 collectors and each of them has a original iron cross. It is huge forgery business. Of course we can not compare iron cross with this medal, but still forgery it is now in some areas and it will be in area of YU awards a huge business. Thats why the good references are now so important. We are still lucky that YU awards were not in scope of forgers but it will change with the time. w.
    5. I don't think that this is enamel, even not synthetic enamel it is probably transparent red color. The quality is not well, you see different red colors. Let's hope that the quality of fakes remain poor as like in this case. w.
    6. Hi Gunner 1, you are right, there are two orders from the range 23xx with certificates. I oversaw these two documents. I think that it would make sens to create a new, pinned important topic with Order of Partisan Stars where we could post order with serial number and certificates. In such way we would get better feeling what serial number was awarded in which time period. Do you agree? w.
    7. Tank you I asked myself for long period of time what happened with lower numbers, sometimes we need more time to answer questions, as in this case. I must admit I have never seen such low number on sale. The reason for that is at the moment not clear - but with the time we will find it out. Congratulations to your OPS3 w.
    8. Gents, on sale is following very nice object (#260450343137). This is quite new development, I must admit, very interesting idea. This red color- what could it be? w.
    9. Look at posting #102, I mentioned there that there is evidence of Order of partisan Star 3rd class with s/n 350. Lower numbers as 8000 are indeed rare but not miracle. Confused?? w.
    10. Hi Tim, congratulation to your Partisan Star 3rd class, I think that this is a beautiful and one of most interesting orders from communist countries. Coming back to your questions: 1. During the guerrilla war in Yugoslavia there was no reliable and permanent connection between units and with the Supreme Staff. Some task were decentralized as in the case of granting awards. First orders were delivered on September 8, 1944 and partly distributed to the fighting units. This fragmentation explains why the order could not be awarded sequentially. Even in case of orders made by IKOM in post war Yugoslavia it was common that some low number were reserved for 'important' persons. We see that sometime a 'important' Persons was granted with a order with very low serial number, much lower as orders awarded at the same time to not very 'important' persons. 2. What is happened with first 8000 pieces of Order of Partisan Star 3rd class? Anatoly13 posted on his homepage the lowest number he knows, it is 350. Slowly we see lower numbers of this order. Maybe some of these orders have been lost during the war. I hope we will be soon able to answer this question. w.
    11. Excellent observation , I think that your categorization is right (taking as a basis current knowledge). Who knows what documents we will see next? Your English is excellent, you could be proud of it. Thank you sebastian w.
    12. Bryan, you are right, my document has 34,5 x 25 cm. Propaganda? : it is written in a style to underline the importance of fallen fighters and his bravery acts. It is propaganda, but propaganda is everywhere and now it is hidden behind Marketing. There is no Mass media without propaganda (free market, free forces of market,... all propaganda). It would be fine to have exact translation of this text. I like this 'sozrealismus' style, where working people are glorified. w.
    13. Great sebastian , now we know that these documents are obviously issued in four languages (Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia). It would be great to see these documents in other languages. Thank you sebastian w.
    14. Generally the family of a bearer of Order of National Hero and Partisanska Spomenica had rights for certain state privileges (defined in statute of these decorations). In case of first Spomenica I could imagine that this person alive would get Partisanska Spomenica after the war. But of course the good question is: how the family of fallen fighter could prove their rights to state's priviledges. It was my assumption that this first spomenica is a kind of entitelment to state's benefits. But it is at the moment only assumption. We have to check it. The next question is what purpose had the other spomenica or wat is the difference between these two documents? Do we have any other similiar documents? w.
    15. I think that we have common sense that this is not a real order. Hopefully the 'quality' of such fakes remain the same.
    16. Thank you Bryan , beside this person I have good experience with many dealers they are correct and honest. I met this person one time, as I saw him I had instinctively bad feeling, my thoughts were ('this is a thief') - unfortunately I was right. This is another evidence to trust my snap judgment. w.
    17. Gents, this object has been sold for app. ?32,00. The small description provided by seller says that this is prototype of Order for Military Merits (for Air Force). What do you think is this a real order or prototype or just nice fantasy object? The buyer agramer35 will shortly offer this object on aukcije.hr. Be careful: I bought (and paid) once an order from agramer35 - he did not delivered paid order nor returned my money. He just stopped answer the emails. w.
    18. Great Befehl227, Now we have two different types of such document. Do you know what the text on this Spomenica exactly means? w.
    19. This is one typical awarding document issued in 1958. Note that the Award is granted by President of the Federal National Republic of Yugoslavia (FNRY). FNRY it will be changed later into Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY). Latest changed after death of President Tito in May 1980 was changing the word of President into Presidency. w.
    20. Gents, there is another document, this time, it is document which was issued for fallen fighters, probably given to the remaining family. What was the reason for issuing of such documents? These documents have serial number printed on the bottom part of document. What was the reason for printing of such s/n? Has this document entitled the family of fallen fighters to privileges or some kind of state benefits? w
