Very interesting. I did not know the medal was awarded like that to military personnel.

Bill, the ORBL is one of my favorite orders. There is something about the rich enamel and blue ribbon that really distinguish it from all the rest. I love the wear on that ribbon you shared with us.

LOL. I bet the prices are going to be ridiculous here in the US. Have you ever seen any of the Castro related ranks in collections?

Thank you for sharing this information. Your father had an interesting life. Did he have World War Two service as well? Was there a paper citation that accompanied the Order of the Red Banner of Labor?
Bill Garvy- Your grouping above is amazing!

Interesting bar. Id expect to see a NDSM. Legion of Merit, as you know, is a very high medal, which came out in late 1942. I'd find it highly unusual for an officer to earn two during the war, especially without a "V" device. Also, with the Selective Service medal... post war service... unless he earned it as a civilian after the war and mounted it with his ribbons?

You all have some fantastic sets.
nickstrenk- thank you for sharing your father's medals. When was his Combat Service Medal awarded?
Igor Ostapenko- I love the foreign medals that the general had. He was awarded some senior Polish medals.

I am a huge fan of the Franco-Prussian groups. Thanks for sharing this tidy bar.
Hamburg Hanseatic bars are not common either. What a beauty.

Thanks Megan. My collection of DDR medals is growing much larger than I ever imagined. Every time I turn around, there is another medal I'd never before seen.

This is true, however, Campaign and Service Medals will always have a small Bronze Service Star Device (ie: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals) no matter what service.
As for Joint Awards, like the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, etc, will always use a Oakleaf Cluter no matter
3Correct. Beautiful ribbon bars.

This is great stuff. Thank you Egorka. Paul, can you please share that image?
So there is a chance the man did not receive any lower level labor orders or medals?

Beautiful and definitely silver. Not Bronze. Thanks for sharing.

Would the Westwall have been considered to be a campaign medal?

Wow. I bet that if they have not, someone here will be able to do so. I know that this would've been right up Rick L's alley....

I know... an easy 10-12k set, but a beauty. I wonder what other lower level orders or medals he may have possessed? I know someone who claims to be able to research these civilian awards now. It would be interesting to see who this was. Definitely a top tier personality.

Thanks for sharing these rarities with us. What type of uniforms did the Jordanians use at the time? British inspired?

Did you buy this medal? Please let us know? From what I can see, it looks great to me. When you get an opportunity, can you please post the images asked for?
