    1. It is fairly heavy canvas with a sewn border, quite simply manufactured but the two are uniform in design and there were others. So that is why I have drawn this rather uneducated conclusion . Scott
    2. He has a shadow box of his awards and a few other items. My father in Law and I made it several years ago for him. Unfortunately the awards are mostly replacement medals... The only other item I found was his fathers WWI U.S. Navy uniform and hat. He served aboard a re-flagged German ship at the end of WWI the ship was the Kaisern August Victoria and it brought Harry Truman home from the war. I will try to post some pics but I don't have the uniform in my possession, it's still in his basement for sentimental reasons... Scott.
    3. Here is a nice AK chest pouch of Asian origin. It has three mags and an oil bottle. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127985957092.jpg.jpg]
    4. Two of the oddest Iraqi pieces of equipment I own. I think these may be an issue prayer rug for the Muslims. I found these near a bunker in Baghdad and thougjt them curious enough to send home. Any thoughts? http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127985926219.jpg.jpg]http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127985930419.jpg.jpg]
    5. I just wanted to see an average British helmet on the forum so here is mine. One of the few remaining items from my Pacific War collecting days. . http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127985890738.jpg.jpg]
    6. This is an HBT shirt that I recently pulled out of my wife's grandfathers basement. As you can see he was a Corporal with the 59th Armored Infantry Battalion, 13th Armored Division (Black Cats) in WWII. He served in 1945 in Germany as a bazooka man. His awards are the EAME Medal with 1 bronze star, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He is still living and is 83 years old. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127985824932.jpg.jpg]
    7. I have some other pictures of the tomb but all are from those dreaded disposable cameras... I will fire up my old desktop computer and spend some time on the scanner. A couple of months into my tour my digital camera choked to death on the sand and dirt, I had to resort to a multitude of disposables. As for Iraq having the tomb, I suspect it was for the propaganda of the regime. It is co-located near the crossed swords " Victory Arch" but I wouldn't doubt British influence as well. Even under Saddam there seem to be many British influences regarding the military. I may set about scanning tonight. Take care. Scott.
    8. Mervyn this is for you. It is a very early picture (circa 2003) of the beginning of the Iraqi Facility Protection Service. This was taken atop the Unknown Soldier Monument in Baghdad. Sorry about the quality but it is a scan from a disposable camera. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-12797745708.jpg.jpg]
    9. The aquiring process . http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-12797738211.jpg.jpg]
    10. Here is a pic of some Iraqi license plates I aquired while visiting . http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127977362389.jpg.jpg]
    11. I just found this pic I took in 2003. It is pattern 58 webbing that was discarded by the Iraqi's near the former Staff College. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127977335648.jpg.jpg]
    12. just thought I would put a picture od my Canadian kevlar helmet on here. These things are pretty tough to get. I would like to get the desert cam cover someday. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-12797708937.jpg.jpg]http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127977093681.jpg.jpg]
    13. It sure fits the mold of an indoor wall hanger or vertical balcony drape. It seems to be an all weather variety. I picked it up in Germany in 1990. I though it would look good sometime behind a display. Thanks for the info. Scott.
    14. Thank you, I am trying to list some of the items that are out there so members can make easier identifications. Scott.
    15. Thanks Paul, I am rather partial to it Scott.
    16. It's the synthetic silk and it is two sides stitched together. Except for the dirt and slight yellowing, it is a really nice flag. I got it off of a Suadi Arabian M-113 going into the city of Khafji. Scott.
    17. My son is putting this display together and asked me to post it for him. He is 14 and enjoys militaria from the DDR and Vietnam as well as most other countries... A chip off the old blockhead . Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973830904.jpg.jpg]
    18. Another different type of shirt. This shirt is a very dark green (even darker than shown) and has nicely embroidered sleeve triangles for the Republican Guard. I really would like to find a pair of matching trousers. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973769156.jpg.jpg]
    19. Here is a bit of a different uniform. This is a short sleeve version of the green duty uniform, I haven't seen many short sleeve uniforms outside of pictures. This uniform has German made Colonel rank, with a nice Republican Guard braided shoulder qardoon, and pin on sleeve triangles along with the national flag breast pin. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973742931.jpg.jpg]
    20. Here is the grouping. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973703188.jpg.jpg]
    21. If you can look beyond the other items in this picture you can see my DDR flag that appears to be designed to hang vertically. I was hoping someone might have a definitive answer as to what type of flag this was. Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973684093.jpg.jpg]
    22. Here is a Qatari flag that was customized for me while I was on R&R there in 2003. Scott.http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973659527.jpg.jpg]
    23. Here is a somewhat blurry close up of the layered embroidery. Sorry but my camera is cheap and the operater is not much better... . Scott. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973626642.jpg.jpg] http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-4139-127973630976.jpg.jpg]
    24. Hi Paul, I will take a new pic and get it uploaded with some other items. I was working off of existing pics that I had in webshots. Glad you are back home and doing well! Hope all is good, are you heading back to CA? Scott.
    25. Beautiful display Doc, yours too Lorenzo! Scott.
