    1. At least he liked the book

P.S. Sorry Demir, I know that you are upset (no wonder!), but do you really think it is a good idea to post the actual adress of this member in open section of the forum ... Just a thought ...

I discussed this subject with other moderators and now this is another step. The address and name is given to make sure that he won't do the same think to others. You can at least know him from his address and name. He may change his GMIC ID anytime.

You bought a book from me on April 2012. When will you pay?

(All correspondence is made through GMIC mail)

You got in touch with me on April 11, 2012 and ask me to send my book and said that you have no PAYPAL account and I told you to send me 28.00 EUR cash in a registered mail. I posted the book on April 16 by registered mail (reg. no: RR150280986TR) and you received it on the April 19th.

On May 17 when I asked whether you have sent the money, you said that you loved the book and will be sending the money soon. Until this date I did not receive any payment although I have sent you several emails through GMIC. Are you planning to pay in the near future. It is a lousy EUR 28.00. Shame on you. If you tell me that you have no money then I will not ask any more.

    3. Hi,

These are the ribbons seen with the Medal. The width must be 20 mm according to the regulation article: 4 (though I have never seen one).

Comparing the ribbon you show here with the medal (56 mm) the ribbon seems to be 30 mm wide or very close (Am I correct). Generally the ones used are 30 mm.

You may see differences in the width and placement of the white stripes.

According to Dr.K.G. Klietmann's 1961 article on the subject the red ribbon is 30 mm wide and 5 mm wide white stripes located 2 mm inset on both sides. The definition perfectly matches the EK2 ribbon except the color. In his 1976 article he gave these figures as 29 mm, 5 mm and 25 mm.

So is this the official ribbon? : No

Did I see an official ribbon according to the regulation? : No

What is this ribbon then? : This is the one generally used

PS: Thanks for your interest in my book

    5. Hi,

Sorry to inform you that this medal has been made by a person who made it sure that it can be easily identified as fake. If you check a genuine Mecidi medal you will see 5 rays in between the star and crescents and the ray in the middle is the longest. In this case there is none or the shortest. Regards

    9. Hi,

I forgot to post this bracelet.

Here is the silver bracelet (made in Germany), of Mr. Nevzat Tanertan who was in Korea, which I bought for my collection last year

      .

Obverse: Miniature Emaille Tropic Lightning for serving under the USA 25th Infantry Division, Emaille Northern Star for the Turkish Brigade (the position of the stars are wrong they have to be on the right side) and Emaille Turkish Flag fixed on the silver bracelet and also left side of the Northern Star written numbers "949 149" ( I think his enrollment no) and right side of the Northern Star the word "Korea".

Reverse: Germany, silver, and the name Nevzat Tanertan

    10. Hi

If there was no Austrian red and white Medal Ribbon which has to be worn in the second button hole of the tunic then, IMHO it is the ribbon of the TWM. It was worn through the secong button hole of the tunic. Although the position is against the Turkish Army Order no.19. According the second article of this Order " other ribbons belonging to the medals of other countries can only be attached under the War Medal ribbon mentioned in the article 1 of this Order".

But since he is not Ottoman he was bound to his Army's regulations.

    11. 3.

An Officers Baton, 50 cm . The baton has its original tassel.

It is made of wood and mother of pearl inlays on it. Mother of pearl 'KOREA -1957-58' is written in the middle and 4 small diamond shape figures are located 8 cm before the tip . The mother of pearl piece is missing at the tip.

The handle is silver with an enamel 'Northern Star' insignia attached on the side and the enamel star and crescent of the Turkish flag at the top.

Above the star 'TURKIYE' is written.

      Enjoy

    12. For some fakes, take a look at the auctions of mcstls - see for example ebay auction 220511512238. Sometimes he also has them made up with red ribbons - also fakes not originals with a swapped ribbon.

These UN medals by mcstls are fakes meant to deceive collectors and sold as such - they are not "new versions" for qualified recipients or whatever. The WW1 Interallied victory medals by mcstls are also fakes.

      Rgds,

      Dave

'mcstls' is selling very creative medals again in the famous website, beware.

      He says

'This is a Ethiopian version of the United Nations Korean Service Medal. It is a very nice medal and will make a great addition to any collection. I picked it up from the Shows of Shows in Louisville, KY. Contact me if you have any questions about a item. I will get back to you well before the auctions end. The blue-and-whilte ribbon design is common to all the various Country medals.

      Happy Bidding !!!!

      Thanks.'

If you want to see these medals please see and compare with the ones in your hands to see the difference
