4. 2 Lead Flat figures (Left in front of the bullets)
The 30mm flat lead figures show Professor Dr. Ernst Gustav von Bergmann, the name giver of the medical academy of the German Federal Armed Forces in Munich, in his uniform as a highest rank Bavarian surgeon general in the year 1880.
The second figure with Ottoman hat (fez) shows Professor Dr. Manuel Julius " Pascha" Wieting, who treated the wounded ones of the Burenkrieges in Hamburg Eppendorf and later entrusts Gulhane Military Hospital in Istanbul, restructured Turkish medical corps with the line of the imperial-Ottoman institute for advanced training. He wears the peace uniform of a Turkish major general around 1910.

Gentlemen,
As is known according to the UN official web site :
"The Korean Operation was established between the period 1950 to 1954. The ribbon bears alternate narrow stripes of white and blue, the colours of the UN. Personnel were eligible to receive the medal after a period of 30 days service in the Mission.
The following countries provided troops to this Mission: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Columbia (UN doesn't know the correct word - Republic of Colombia), Denmark, Ethiopia, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, South Africa, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America." (India and South Korea Missing)
Some countries did get English version medals others their own languages. Taking this into consideration, is this a correct list:
AMHARIC : Ethiopia, DUTCH : Netherlands, (Belgium ? Maybe both Dutch and French) ENGLISH : Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Union of South Africa, United Kingdom, the United States, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Philippines, FRENCH : France, Belgium, Luxembourg, GREEK : Greece, ITALIAN : Italy, SANSKRIT: India, KOREAN : Korea, SPANISH : Colombia, THAI :Thailand, TURKISH : Turkey
Thanks for your help

Hi Demir
Here's a pic of the back. As you can see it's the English version. The Swedes in Korea got the English version of the UN medal. There never was a special UN medal for the Swedes in Korea or even national Korea medal for that matter, like the Danish Jutlandia or Norwegian Korea medal.
Do you have anything from the hard fighting Turkish force in Korea?
/Kim
Thanks Kim,
The reason I asked is; as you may know the UN official web page:
http://www.un.org/en/peacekeeping/sites/medals/
says:
" The wording shown may be in English, French, Spanish, Danish , Greek, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Sanskrit (I think this is mistake instead Aramhic for Ethiopia or may be they issued a few now for the Indian troops) or Turkish " (Thai version was not included and I have one in my collection : http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=31830)
I did not see Danish and Swedish, even the pictures.
Thanks:beer:

It would be a shame if this thread died. There are plenty more different nations that were in Korea that we haven't seen here... yet.
I can't post much as Swedish Korean war stuff is scarce but here is a set I got recently. It's anonymous for the time being, but I hope I can change that. If I had to guess who it belonged to I would say a doctor at the hospital at Pusan. Time will tell if I'm right.
/Kim
Hello Kim,
Lovely ribbon bar.
Can you please post the reverse picture of the Swedish issue UN Korean War Medal.
Thanks

You're right Kim, let's keep it alive
To continue my post #21, here is an example of the trio that most on the Hospital Ship Jutlandia received.
Danish Korea (Jutlandia) Medal - UN Korea Service Medal - Korean War Service Medal
This one belonged to a nurse. She apparently went through the extra work of getting miniatures and having them mounted (maybe worn as a piece of 'jewelry').
I've seen her full size trio and they were just left as unmounted singles, which is how 95% (my estimate) of the ship crew and hospital crew kept theirs.
P.S: Nice group, Kim.
/Michael
Hello Great Dane,
This is a lovely trio.
Is it possible to post the reverse picture.
I don't have Danish, Swedish,Spanish and Italian versions of the Un Medal.
Thanks

Gentlemen,
This year is the 95th anniversary of the Gallipoli/Canakkale war. The Turkish War Medal - Canakkale Madalyasi - Eiserner Halbmond - Iron Crescent - Gallipoli Star was given in this war against the invading British and French Forces.
TWM is the entry level gallantry award, ranking below the silver Liyakat Medal.
Here are the pictures of my TWM collection.
In the first picture you can see different makes of the TWM, miniatures and ribbons.
Please also note that the pine cone and the rifle bullets on the left back side of the picture are from Lone Pine/Gallipoli where one of the most severe battles took place with the ANZACs. After the landing (1915, 25th of April)
The German ribbon just behind the Turkish made medal ( in the front middle, behind it another Turkish made medal ) has blood stains on it (left corner).
On the front far left is the one (with a wreath surrounding the star) I mentioned in my earlier threads.
The second picture is my Turkish lead soldier collection.
The third picture is the KNIGHTs of the middle ages.
Hope you enjoy the collection, best wishes.

Hello Gentlemen,
Austrian company Brother SCHNEIDER has done a beautiful job for creating these fancy medals for Gallipoli.
I hope that whoever bought these for a TWM from Bruder at least had deserved it in the war.
Here is another variation which I have, but this one has no Br. Schneider sign on it. So I can not say who the maker is, but it resembles the
one our friend "Ottomanmedals" has. As you know this medal had been my Avatar since I joined the Club.
Best wishes

Hi Brian,
Wellcome to the TWM fan club.
This is a typical, I would say standard issue BB&Co.

Thank You Gentlemen for your compliments and information. I did add this example to my small collection and now have six. Except for two B. B & C all the others are different. I hope to start a small gallery of my TWMs when I have more time. This is becoming one of my favorites badges.
Wellcome to the TWM Club.

LOVELY PIECE.
HARD TO FIND SAMPLE.
I HOPE I FIND A SIMILAR ONE TO BUY.
THIS ONE AND THE ONE MAHONI HAVE POSTED EARLIER HAS 2 DIFFERENCES (as far as I see from the pictures).:
1. MAHONI TWM TUGRA is solid and you can not see the red enamel between the lines
2. ROCKY TWM reverse is very smooth and see the red enamel between the Tugra's lines (Inner egg, tugs, fringes, arms and stand - http://gmic.co.uk/in...showtopic=40277 )

Please check the mahlas and date on this unknown one shown above!!!

Here is another one that is strikingly similar except the enamel pattern appears to have longer diamond shapes on mahony's and the example I posted when compared to Josef's TWM and the border of the star arms on Josef's TWM are doubled and more like those of BB&Co.
Additionally, that little hole is not as round on Josef's example. Other than that, they appear the same.
Tim
Hi again,
Please check the rough finish of the balls at the end of the arms.

Not sure who the maker is or if it's German or Austrian, but it is marked "silber" on the pin and similar to the one posted by "mahoni" and "Josef" earlier in this thread. If the guys don't mind, I wanted to post a couple quick comparison shots for discussion.
Tim
Here's the one with "mahoni's" TWM, though I do not have a whole PIC for comparison, it appears the same style:
Note the star arms have the narrow silver border and the "hole" in the Tugra is round in design.
Hi,
Mahlas is also different

Hello Dimer,
I just read your first post and made a comment now you've posted this one and once again you've provided an indispensible reference source. Now I must add a TWM to my collection.
Regards
Brian
Hello Brian,
Thank you.
The TWM is one of the good looking and sought after medals in the recent years. I am glad that you want to get one for your collection.
