It is not laurel leaf but OAK.

Hello,
This laurel leaf is given to those who help red crescent (Turkish Red Cross) during a war.
I attached two pictures one is a red crescent medal with a laurel leaf the ot is the the decree dated 22 november 1916 about the laurel leaf.
According to this decree a bronse leaf is added to a bronse medal, silver and gold ones accordingly.

Did you buy it on ebay germany? i remember a set sold there with a similar box. the seller described the box as collectors copy. was that the set you are showing us?

I am a new member. I am honoured to be in this group.
Please see attached medal. Is this a privately made medal made for a doctor or a teacher during the Gallipoli war.
Please also check my TWM album and comment on the pictures their made etc.
I think the real Gallipoli medals are the painted ones. Rest is German made for those who deserved and paid for it.
There is no difference between officer or private medals. They are all same, the painted ones. The then Ottoman
Government was only be able to finance the war. How would they supply the fighters with enamel or silver medals.
