    1. These are what we used to wear. 1. US Army Military Police (green/yellow hatband) 2. US Air Force Air Police (Earlier versions had a white hatband) Ed
    2. Thought folks might like to read a little history about the Military Police Corps. ALSO: Here are some shots you may be interested in. The first is of my Dad while stationed at Ford Ord, California in the late 1950s. He never wore a badge, just the brassard he has on. The second is an older version worn in the mid 60's. Ed
    3. VERY nice display/photos. Thanks for sharing Ed
    4. Hi Mervyn, Thought this might be an interesting addition.
    5. Hi Mervyn, Remember our on-going conversations (with side comments from Gordon ) about my newly acquired hat. There are two posts: - 10/15/09 - Austrian Police Hat - 12/21/09 - More Austrian Hats As always, enjoying your posts Ed
    6. Hi Mervyn, I haven't ignored your request, just been busy this weekend with some church finance committee functions. I have some other pics I'll be posting later as well as trying to answer your question about dog units. You're absolutely right though - I would NOT have wanted to be without Ponza or Roe on a couple of situations in Korea as well as working with K-9s and handlers around nuclear storage areas in later years. Got to go now, More later Ed
    7. Chris, Dad was a Platoon Sgt on patrol. There were ambushed by VC and was hit with a Claymore Mine metal ball. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M18_Claymore_anti-personnel_mine The ball entered his right leg just below his groin and exited out his right buttocks. He was air evaced by a Dust Off chopper. Came through Viet Nam OK.
    8. I recently posted this in another forum, but thought I'd add it here as it obviously better fits here. It is a reissue PH certificate my Dad received for wounds received in Viet Nam.
    9. There were only two XB-70s built. In 1965, while stationed at Offutt AFB, Nebraska, I was with the Civil Air Patrol. We took the CAP Cadets on a trip to Edwards AFB, California and had the privilege of seeing BOTH XB-70s parked, nose to nose, in a hanger. Security restrictions at the time did not allow us to take pictures, but it is a memory I will never forget. I found this tie tack in an antique shop awhile back. Here also are a few links about the aircraft. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_XB-70_Valkyrie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfh-lV_jhzk&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vPvr29wJ80&feature=related
    10. Hi Tim, Thanks for the info. I did a quick check before I posted this and didn't see anything. Obviously I should have figured this was available in the Coins and Commemorative Medallions section Ed
    11. Now THAT'S a fine looking piece of equipment! Just the way it should be! Ed
    12. Found this in a box of patches awhile ago. This is a 1943 series issue. During World War II in the Philippines, the occupying Japanese government issued fiat currency in several denominations known as Japanese government-issued Philippine fiat peso. More info on this link: http://en.wikipedia....ppine_fiat_peso The two colors are true.
    13. Another shot of me and Ponza
    14. Her are a shot of the military K-9s I worked with (Ponza and Roe) while in the USAF stationed in Kunsan Air Base, Korea.
    15. Howdy All, The Post Mervyn is referring to was made March 28. TOPIC: "What's the Difference in these two?" (referring to the Ontario Correctional Services patch) Ed
    16. GUESS WHAT! The duplicate citation for my Dad's Purple Heart FINALLY arrived on July 1, 2010. Didn't take TOO long (LOL) [and it was FREE] Anyway, just wanted to share with my friends.
    17. Thanks for the clarification Les. I collect from all over. (If you have you have any patches lying around that you don't want clogging up the back of the desk drawer I'd gladly take them off your hands)
    18. Mervyn/Les, Thanks to both of you. Just need a point of clarification please as you have both given slightly different explanations. So, should it be SENIOR Sgt or STATION Sgt? MERVYN: Don't recall anything about your book. What is the title and (as Les has asked) is it still in print? Thanks again gents and welcome Les. Look forward to seeing some of your postings. Ed
    19. Is the hat band made of metal or just highly polished leather? Ed
    20. Very nice Mervyn. Don't suppose you have an extra you are just DYING to get rid of - huh! Ed
    21. Thanks Doc. I have sent an e-mail asking them for ID assistance. Let you know if/when I get any info. Ed
    22. Hi Leigh, Might you have a scan of the Kent plastic badge? Your color description is very intreging Ed
    23. Tried the Google. Came up with a lot of hits, but nothing that may be of help yet. Still looking. Thanks for your inputs. Ed
    24. I believe this is an Australian rank but not sure. IDing help would appreciated. Thanks in advance Ed
