I believe the Red Eagle 4th is in 3rd place; the 2nd place medal looks too dark. My guess is, for now, it's the 1934 Hiindenburg Cross worn as a war decoration, as it's the only medal with swords in that shape. And, during the Weimar period, until '35, pretty much anything goes as far as ordering.
Mmmmm... It seems being mounted on black / white ribbon... No ?

Hi
Also the date for establish nr 4 Flieger Erinnerungsabzeichen is wrong. To my knowledge the first were awarded very late 1915.

Nimmergut says 27/1/1914 🤔

Gunnar
And 27/1/2918 for nr 8...

Hi !
A friend of mine give me this picture to search what can be searcheable on it...
Location : Monchecourt Station (not yet existing), in north of France, near Douai... 25 km from the first lines... Taken by german troops in 09/1914, released in 09/1918... That's all I can say at the moment...
What can we deduce from this picture ???

The golden medal of Kaiser Karl is not for "Merit" but for "Valour".
That's correct, I was wrong

"BRONZE" stamped on the rim, near the ring.

Does anyone have access to Nimmergut? I’d like to check dimensions
In tome III, Nimmergut show 2 examples :
- 1 in silver gilt made by Scharffenberg, 53 x 37,5 mm, 21,8 g (crown 16 x 21 mm)
- 1 in silver gilt too, G.H. Osang made, 57 x 37,5 mm, 23,84 g (crown 17 x 22 mm)

Long time ago, I have also found this Women's merit cross of the Lippe Bertha order (Lippe Bertha Orden, Frauenverdienstkreuz).
A quite rare insignia, with only 15 awarded during 1910-1918...

You're right, neither are textbook examples. The Erinnerungsabzeichen looks like an unmarked Juncker piece, but the reverse hardware is a little unusual. The attachment of the pin block in the crown well is unusual, normally these are soldered directly onto the reverse, whereas this one has a slight back plate. Also, the pin and catch seem to be made of a base metal. The pilot badge could be an interwar item, although I've never seen one like that either, but there were numerous variants that made the rounds.
You're wright, I think (but not sure, it was along time ago) that the pilot badge was described as a post WW1 made.
I don't remember for the second one...

First he was in Prussia army (Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse, 12 years, not in the reserve).
Then after in saxon army (Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse, in the reserve...)
So Prussia -> saxony
No ?

Saxon Carola Medal
in Germany: Imperial: The Orders, Decorations and Medals of The Imperial German States
Posted · Edited by pinpon590
Furthermore, Kuenker offered for sale a lot of Carola Medals...
1st type (1892-1915) :
Bronze
Silver :
On bow ribon :
2nd type (1915-1918) :
bronze with clasp 1914-16 for men :
bronze with clasp 1914-16 for women :
And silver grade, on bow ribon, with clasp 1914-16 for women :
Clasp created May 22th 1916.
Looking very similar to the british clasps on crimea medals...
