Funny how the Nazis 'overlooked' important Imperial awards, and put their own junk party badge first.

My grandfather and his two brothers all volunteered for the 5. Garde Regiment zu Fuss at Spandau, but they went into the field with the 203 Reserve Regiment.

Simply incredible spange, with the Krieger Verdienst Medaille for non-combat.

Wild Card, I appreciate your comments, with which I can't argue. I tend to think that the bar under discussion is Model's, with a high probability factor, say, 95%. The only attributed medal bar in my collection which I would assign 100% certainty to in terms of provenance is my grandfather's and his father's. Of course these came through inheritance.

I am no expert on German order bars, although I have collected them somewhat over the years. The bottom line with this bar is provenance. Unless it came from the family, with proof, there is no way to ascertain 100% whether this spange belonged to Model or not.

Wow, now that's what I call a 'Saxon trio'.

Of course, but without an EK2 it is not possible, unless he only wore it in the buttonhole.

Right Alex, I thought the combo might be plausible with an AOR2, but with swords?

Jason, you got this spange from Barry at emedals? I looked at this one closely, but found the combination unlikely, although the bar certainly looks genuine.

Right you are, the much rarer 'Baeckermuetze' portrait. Splendid mini.

Examples of Prussian orders with brilliants are out there, but are very scarce. Thies auctions them on occasion. I believe they were made as special presentation pieces for high-ranking recipients or members of a royal house. Having said that, better pictures would be in order to make any judgement on this one.

Right, some towns in Brazil such as Blumenau look like Black Forest villages.

Hi Werner, thanks, that narrows the field down a little.

Nice 'other ranks' bar, and an attractive way of mounting the Baden Verdienstmedaille.

I like that one as well, very nice example.

Rick, I will get good scans up as soon as I have it in hand. And Don, I will let you know if I decide to move it along.

Gaston, I managed to get the autographed postcard from this group, but unfortunately nothing else, although I was bidding on several documents.

Rick is correct, the cases by themselves are now selling for 150.00 USD.

I know what you mean, Don, things were looking a little iffy on getting this one, but I thought it had potential as a highly unusual combo. Of course ID'ing it would be great.

You guys are great, many thanks for all this great information.

I have a document issued to an Oberst von Bose, who was the Chef of the Abteilung fuer die Armee-Angelegenheiten im Kriegs-Ministerium in 1863. If anyone could provide biographical details, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am the buyer of this bar, although it is certainly not my main area of interest. The medals are attached to the back not via hooks but have been stitched on. It all looks period, although a bit of a dog's breakfast. I don't have it in hand yet.

The ribbons are way too 'fresh' looking for my taste.

Good work, very nice bar, and not so common with the Altenburg medal.

Best EK doc I've seen come up for quite some time.
