Dammit, you're the one who beat me to that spange.

It is the 1887 Golden Jubilee Medal in bronze. Mark, I'm wondering if it is Guelich's bar, prior to being upgraded with his later awards?

Nobody has any German bars with English connections? Or is everyone on holiday?

Paul, I suppose that could be the diamond jubilee medal? Thanks Claudius for hosting the pictures. I'd like to see more bars with English decorations, so if anyone has any, please show them.

I've had trouble uploading files for some reason. I have scans of the bar, if someone would like to post them.

Edit: title should read "spange".

I was fortunate to get a couple of the ex-Nowell collection items from the last DNW auction, including a spange with the following combo:
Prussia 1870 EK2
Prussia Red Eagle Order 4th Class, marked "FR"
Prussia Crown Order 3rd Class, marked "Zehn"
Prussia 1870 KDM, no inscription
Prussia Centennar-Medal
England 1887 Golden Jubilee Medal
I thought this was a fairly unique combination with the English medal, although it is curious that the owner has the 1897 Wilhelm medal but not the EK2 oakleaves or any battle bars on the KDM. If anyone would like to volunteer to post scans of this bar, that would be nice, as I cannot post pictures. In the meantime, I thought it would be interesting if members could post their German bars with English decorations.

Great spange, anything with a St. Henry is nice.

Sounds amazing, photos please.

Nice, you can't get enough of these "old-timers", IMHO.

Very interesting, yes, I got these from ebay last week. Too bad the group got split up, I hate it when that happens. Andy, thanks for your offer, PM sent.

I recently picked up a couple of cabinet letters to an Oberst von Grolman, one for the PKO3 and one for the PRAO3mS. Apparently he was CO of Infanterie-Regiment Herzog Friedrich Wilhelm von Braunschweig No. 78. If anyone could provide biographical details on him, it would be much appreciated.

Komtur, I think your man is Hauptmann von Werthern.

Holy cow, he must have looked like a real "Weihnachtsbaum" when wearing all those orders.

Man, look at that Schwarzer Adler.

Wow, that's quite the group. Could we see good closeups of the MVK?

Possibly a faded Hessian Tapferkeitsmedaille?

Can someone tell me what the source was for the bronze used to strike the Centennar-Medaille in 1897? The award document states that it comes from "captured cannon", which I'm assuming was left over from the 1870 conflict.

The Ludvigsen book is very informative, and showcases the mind-boggling amount of research he did.

Daniel, that is a really interesting photo. Too bad it is fuzzy. And that is a great photo of Viktoria Luise, the cutest of the Hohenzollerns.

Thanks for posting those pictures, Tom. Daniel, in O'Connor's book on Wuerttembergers in the Luftstreitkraefte he shows a picture of Eckstein's Soldbuch with the awards entries. I can't seem to find out much else about him, though. Trying to get more info via the Aerodrome forum.

Thanks, Tom, it is indeed the ex-Seymour\Colson bar attributed to Eckstein. I'm not convinced it is Eckstein's, as it is missing the Wuerttemberg Military Merit Order and Hamburg Hansa Cross, and the Military Merit Medal is silver, not gold. It would be something of a miracle for another officer to have this set of awards, but anything is possible.

Any mint marks on the Finnish medals on spange 1?

It looks like "Liebe Mutter, herzlichen Gruss, dein J. ???".

Interesting Spange

Guys, it is the Golden Jubilee Medal, not Diamond, as already stated twice.
