Another small victory in the battle to preserve history, well done gentlemen.

Yup, it's also weird that this group has no Austrian or Hungarian WW1 commemoratives, seeing as it is allegedly a post-1934 bar.

Just got an email from Barry, and he agrees that these are fakes. They will be removed from his site immediately.

I just got a reply from Barry, and he is looking into the situation. Apparently he got these from someone recently in Toronto.

Scott, I have a two place bar with this medal and the EK2, but no swords on the ribbon.

Definitely weird. And isn't that the wrong ribbon for the HOH in bar one?

Mike, that's a nice piece, any idea who the recipient was?

Sascha, I just looked over the emedals site, and you are quite right. Items GST 290 and GST 281 are these fakes. I deal with Barry quite a lot, so I will contact him about this.

Looks like that one is fresh from the Latvian mint.

Quite right, Rick, the collective knowledge on this site is unprecedented. Every day I learn.

After reading this thread, the first thing I did was check all my RAO's for this funky-chicken fake.

Interesting Bavarian bar, Scott. Looks like the ribbon in last place is for a long service award.

On the twelve o'clock arm on the reverse of the Mecklenburg cross, at the top, is that a scratch or a die flaw or a casting mark?

Nice item, interesting that he was a combatant in 1870, but a non-com in Africa.

Scott, I have an almost identical bar, but with the Oakleaves and a clasp on the KDM, and it has a Prussian long service. Your bar looks okay to me, but the photos aren't the greatest. I think the price is fair if the pieces are genuine.

Nice bar, Scott. I hate to be a nag, but I think we need a separate thread on the correct spelling of Wuerttemberg.

Razputin, your bar is on ebay right now, is it not?

Nice collection of bars, but what happened to the two Saxon ones? Looks like someone parted them out.

Like the other members, I'm in awe of this collection. As my Oma would have said, "Ach du meine Guete". Absolutely outstanding material, Sandro.

Hi Rick,
It's the bronze "Der Tapferkeit" medal with the Franz Josef portrait, so I'm assuming a pre-1916 award.

Very nice piece, Richard. I think you should do a recreation of my uncle as CO of 9. JG 3 in the summer of 1940, so you need EK 1 and Spange, PilotObserver (J1), Juncker WW 1 Pilot Badge, WW 1 Wound Badge in Black and a Feldspange. Or you give me the Fliegerbluse and save yourself the trouble......

Sorry, no scans as my scanner is having compatibility issues with my new computer. No paperwork with the group, but the Iron Halfmoon is engraved with the guy's initials. I suppose he could have been an NCO, but I suspect no WW 2 service as there are no awards after 1938.

Scott, you're killing us with these great pieces.

Hi Tom,
That's a nice one. I recently picked up a Gold Merit Cross with a "70" button, but also have no idea what these were given for.

The Germans would call von Platen a real "Weihnachtsbaum". I count 23 orders on his spange, perhaps only outdone by the Kaiser himself.
