    1. Here is a couple of new toys (which could be available for trade ) Silver gilt.. no maker mark
    2. Urggg.... Perhaps I need to stay with tunics and leave all these 'bright and shiney' items to you guys.... At least I know a good tunic when I see it..... I wonder if there is any good stuff out there Cheers Mark p.s. Rick... I love the trademark that you have after the Evil Ones name
    3. Hey Rick, Yeah... I've been watching that one, has about 3 days to go or so... The last one that was listed last month went for about 400 euro I think (also had some enamal damage as well)... I was curious about Rick's comment (not you.... the evil one).. that this was an MVK for enlisted... I'm confused (easilly done) as I thought that the all enamel ones were for officers and not enlisted. Cheers Mark
    4. Hey Guys, No.... I did not buy either of these... though I really liked the Bavarian one.... and until Rick pointed out issues with the MVO I was seriously considering it but not now ( I don't need another 'project' to work on to restore the bar). I REALLY like the medal bars from the 1870-1914 range.... anything before WWI... and I liked all the 1870 bars I thought that the Anhalt was cute.. but was not sure about the awards...... And here is a pic of the reverse. I don't have a reverse of the Bavarian. Cheers Mark
    5. Hello boys, After the first 1870 bar was torn apart... I thought I would through these two to the wolves also Bavarian bar..... 1) 1870 bars ...... good/bad ? 2) Long service... but no long service... why ? Anhalt bar 1) like.. dont like.. and why ? Cheers Mark
    6. Hello All, I have been offered a bar.. but I have questions about it. 1) Whenever I see the 1914 spange on an 1870 cross I want to run away and bury my head in the sand (way too many fakes out there). 2) For an officer with 25 years + in service... and only a RAO 4th class with now Crown order seems strange. If it was a RAO 3rd class.. then I could justify no Crown as I would expect that to be around the neck. The seperate 1914 spange was an extra that came with the bar... so at least I can show the reverse. Let me know the good... the bad... and the ugly (while I play the Clint Eastwood theme in the background) Cheers Mark
    7. Hey Rick, My dog lifts his leg on territory that he wants to lay claim to? so perhaps the Evil One's (notice the capital letters for proper grammar) licking is not so bad.. considering the alternative (though perhaps that leg lifting would help with the patina a bit) Cheers Mark
    8. Not sure... but the way this stuff comes and goes... you will probably see it again... unless it goes into one of those 'black holes' that closet colletors have.... I loved the bar... but it just didn't fit into my collecting area... I had originally wanted it for a future 'one of these days when i can find one' Romainian generals uniform displays.... but once it was id'd... I knew it was not the right bar (I'm kinda 'anal' about details )..... Cheers Mark
    9. Hi Guys, Actually.. 'no'..... I'm the one that traded it to Barry at e-Medals.. I need some Jap orders to complete a general's uniform display and this was one of the trade items. I don't know where it 'lives' now.... but it was a very very nice bar..... Cheers Mark
    10. Hey Guys, Just as an FYI..... The Crown Order with RAO ribbon DID have a disclaimer that it was pre-1945 manufacture and not WWI era (hence jeweler copy etc).......I'm thinking it was one of the ones that Thies sold in his last auction a few months back. Thies had about 5 pages of 'jeweler copies', most of which brought 500 euro + bids (not counting the 20% commission and 20% exchange rate difference). I did get an e-mail from him stating that the auctions were pulled do to medical reasons. For what it's worth.... Cheers Mark
    11. Hey Brian, Fantastic family history Do you know any of the details for the earlier officer's.. i.e. Napoleonic period or US Revolutionary time. I would be curious if any of them either fought against Napoleon (perhaps at Waterloo) or were involved with the Brits during the "American campaign" in 1776 etc. Great stuff ! Cheers Mark
