Thanks alot for the ID of this medal. I was just about to do a super scan of this medal by request of Trooper D, but now the mystery is solved, And to be honest, the last country I'd had in mind was Norway. But after your detailed story this would of course make sense.

Thanks alot for your comments. It may after all not be British. Before posting here I checked with some of the Danish experts into regimental and soldiers union badges, they claim it's not Danish so I assumed it must be British as there's no other countries represented on the group. Maybe one day I'll find out?

It is correct that the no 3 ribbon is folded the Danish way, but this is common practise for foreign awards being worn by a Dane, the exception being when this is impossible like with the War Medal. I believe this last is a not so old striking, but it would not make sense to believe this is a made up group in any way.

Just got this little miniature group. I have no clue of what number 3 from the left is, could it be a British Regimental or Soldiers Union medal of some kind?

The first is the Danish Medal for 25 years service in the army, the second the Danish medal for 25 years service as reserve officer, then the unknown and last the British War medal 1940-45 with a palm on the ribbon. It is obvious a Danish group for someone who took some kind of part in WW2, the 3rd and unknown is not a Danish Decoration of any kind (although the ribbon colours could suggest the Life Guard) so the obvious thought is that it must be British related. The one in question is blank on the reverse!

Any help?

In relation to the previous Order of St. Heinrich minis shown by Peter and myself I just wanted to show this one, It is NOT mine, it was auctioned away somewhere in France recently and although I tried to include it in my collection someone with more funds than I wanted it more

Some of you have seen this, I decided to buy it as it's something you don't see every day - although a little expensive.

A nice solid Gold frame with a Order of Saint Henry from Saxony and a Legion of Honour from the 2nd Restauration (1815-30), the bar is most likely related to the early wars and would probably date from 1815-20. It's quite rare to see such miniatures from this period, and it even have the original ribbons.

I now understand that the term "warehouse" or "depot" should be understood in a broader sense as a home for the sick and wounded which makes a little more sense. I'm actually surpriced to learn that so many variations exists, I would have assumed that such jetons were given to those who worked there or were involved in the home as sponsors or committe members and thus a ie bronze, silver and gold grade would have been sufficient and would have been made by one producer? Now I can see that an endless number of variations exist and perhaps you haven't even found all of them?

As you know this is not really within my area of interest but I simply found it beautiful so I just took it so I could enjoy it for some time.

I have got this medal for War Aid 1914-1918 from the town of Plauen in Saxony. It is Silver and excellent quality, but I'd like to know which ribbon would be the correct one for this? Also if anybody could add a little further information, ie. how rare is this one, could it be worn on a ribbon bar together with official decorations or was it purely inofficial? By searching the web I found out that Plauen had around 121000 inhabitants in 1910 so it wasn't Germany's largest city in any way. Any info appreciated.

According to Robert Werlich's book on Russian Jetons the white enamelled jeton is "One hundred and thirty-fifth Kerch-Yenikale Infantry Regiment" (Fig. J14), the one pictured in the book is suspended from a chain.

Thanks alot for the info. I actually also now found it in Robert Werlich's book about Russian Jetons, fig. J-152, where it's described as "Red Cross depot of Empress Alexandra", this is however an unenamelled type so I overlooked it in the first run. But now I know what it is.

Would anybody be able to add some comments on this Red Cross jeton from the 1904-1905 War? I assume it's from one of the Societies, but a smaller one as I haven't seen a similar one before in contrary to those from the larger Societies - but which one, any comments is most welcome. It's gilded Silver and unmarked as far as I can see.

Nick, thanks for the class identification of the Korean one, just curious, is the class determined by the center trigram, meaning each class would have a different one (8 in total as I understand things although I'm not so familiar with the concept) or is class determined by something else?

I was simply not aware of this Prussian long service award, but this would of course make much more sense. I cannot really recall having seen this but I have to go through some litterature. Interesting that it resembles the Russian badge so much!

Friends, I have had this miniature chain for some time now but I'm wondering if this is a possible combination? You'll have the Prussian Red Cross medals in silver and bronze, a Saxon War Merit Cross for 1915 also related to War Aid/Red Cross kind of services, so far so good, but at the end you'll have the Imperial Russian 15 years service bar for civil servants on a Saint Wladimir ribbon.

The chain does not appear to have been messed with in any way, but if the forth should be an "exchange" made by the previous collector who owned it it's an interesting choice!

So is this a possible combination and under what circumstanses could this be possible?

Yes, a very interesting chain, I assumed nobody else had seen it so I could secure it for the estimated price - but I learned that that was unfortunately not the case

It has belonged to a Swedish adventurer who was travelling a little around 1900 - the most interesting piece is the Swedish Medal for Bravery in the Field in Gold which have been awarded only twice with crown. Enjoy ...

Just received another miniature today bought on eBay. It's one of these cases where you wait and wait to see if you made an excellent buy or were ripped off. This was listed by a Seller without any history as it was his first sale, the description was a one liner without any indication of size or material, the photos were unclear and blurred and the mini was mounted on a ribbon the would have fitted better around a box of chocolate.

I showed a similar miniature of the Westphalian Crown in post # 386 mounted on a small bar together with a French LoH. That one is a fine Gold piece, this one appears to be Silver gilded but obvious from the same dye with an exact match in all details. A nice 11 * 16 mm miniature at a decent price. Thanks to all that didn't dare to bid
