The Ordre of Sultan Ismael was created in 1974. So I have never seen one in Malaysia. When it was created it was awarded in 2 classes : 1st class S.S.I.J. (it's a sash badge star shaped with 9 points and a breast star with 9 points + Collar).I was able to recently purchased such a set (picture below). The hallmarks are for Birminghams in 1979. The 2nd class D.S.I.J. was a sash badge 7 points and a breast star with 7 points. I have purchased from that seller another decoration that seems to be linked to Order of Sultan Ismael, but it seems there is no 3rd class yet. By the way it seems a Bintang Sultan Ismael exist (a breast badge). Taz had posted a picture of it some years ago. Emmanuel

Hello Mr Medal, here is a Melakka D.P.S.M. set (from Chencellery web site). Melakka Orders & Meals (Malacca in english) are seldom to be found in Malaysia. Emmanuel

Hello Gentlemen, here is a Military Appreciation Medal with its correct ribbon (as silvered metal, mine should be 2nd Class) The medal is extremely rarely seen. But pay attention to suspender (mine has a ball suspender and the one got by Auseklis has a barrel suspender). To my opinion the one with barrel suspender is older (from the 70ies). My medal is 21 grammes without its ribbon. How heavy is yours ? Did Owain got statistic on how often that medal could be awarded ? Emmanuel

Here we have a medal I had looked for years and years....it's Senegal Medal of Honor for the Firefighter. It was instituted by Law N° 80-1281 of 31 December 1980. This medal is to be awarded to firefighters for a certain (but unknown to me) numbers of years in service, as act of bravery on fire. This medal is also to be awarded to members of the organism of the Civil Protection. It's diameter : 34 millimeters. Weight : 22 grammes. I guess that one was manufactured in the late 80ies or 90ies. Emmanuel

Hello Gentlemen, I was able to buy this Order of Agricultural Merit from Senegal (Officer rank). Actually in Dakkar they call it "Medaille d'Honneur Agricole 1st Class" Diameter 42 millimeters.Weight : 47 grammes. I guess it could have existed a french manufactured version in the 80ies that could have looked a bit different ? Order of Agricultural Merit ( Law 82-600 from 7 August 1982). It's a 3 classes Order. It's a circular insignia with on its center and from top to bottom, the head of a cow in brown enamel, the waves of the ocean enameled in blue, trees with leafs enameled in green. Ribbon is ocean blue with a center marron stripe bordered by a green stripe. Emmanuel

heusy68 replied to heusy68's topic in South East & East Asia
This is the full size medal with 2 miniatures that came with. The one at left with straight bar suspension is Brunei Police Golden Jubilee 1921-1971 Emmanuel -
Hello Gentlemen, in a recent SE Asia trip I bought a medal that might seems common to most of people who are interested in SE Asia awards. But watch from close. This medal : Pingat Perkhidmatan Polis has a bar on ribbon. I have ask to the malay staff of my hotel (in Singapore) to translate, some where able to read, but told me the words were not malay. But I got from same seller, the miniature with exact same bar with matching inscription (see 2 thread below). I ask to the special comission departement of a London Co, but they don't know the local regulation. If anyone can help,he's most welcome (click on picture to increase its size). Emmanuel

Belgium ORDER OF LEOPOLD KNIGHT (FRENCH WORKMANSHIP ?)
heusy68 replied to heusy68's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Hello Graf, very interesting. Your Commander cross should be from the period 1905-1925, but the Knight is earlier (I would say 1885-1910). The obverse center of the Knight you show us, is very specific. In a medal show this afternoon,I saw in a book a photo of a breast star of Order of Leopold made by Medina of Barcelona. The author say he never saw such one,and same for me. French manufactured Order of Leopold are seen from time to time, and a fellow had a Knight German Made (the way the swords were attached to suspension is very unique on his cross).Unfortunately he sold that cross long time ago. I know he has kept a photography....so I will do my best. But it could take weeks or months.... Emmanuel -
Belgium ORDER OF LEOPOLD KNIGHT (FRENCH WORKMANSHIP ?)
heusy68 replied to heusy68's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Hello Gentlemen, what I believed to be a manufacturer hallmark is actually a belgian hallmark for work of silver imported between 1831 & july 1868 (ref Poinçons d'Argent by Tardy).Watch the hallmark at extreme right on the last picture. I have been able to see a fellow collector that own a similar piece, but the motto of his cross is enameled in dark blue !!! Like the Legion of Honour. Anyway a very interesting and totally unusual Knight from the period 1832-40. Emmanuel -
Hello Gentlemen, here is a group of Surakarta ODM now for sale in Jakarta. The large size miss the Order of Loyalty, and on the small side there is the Gusti Raden Medal. Emmanuel

To end with Mozambique today, here is an Order (said to be awarded to international fighter who helped Mozambique, ie cuban). This Order of good quality, and with a blank reverse was recently auctioned in Germany in a coins catalogue auction. It is not in my collection, but the owner was kind enough to let me examine this Order, and I host the picture. Again it's a very hard job to gather information on ODM of former portuguese colonies in Africa. Emmanuel

Now a close-up on the medal worn by the person next to Samora Machel. It looks like it is the Medal of Veteran of the National Liberation Struggle, but picture is not good enough to say it is,or it is not..... Report from a south african fellow that had been witness to a veteran ceremony in the 1990ies,said that no one of these veteran was wearing a medal. But maybe that medal was only awarded to a selected number of veteran, mostly for "good political behaviour", rather than for bravery in combat. Emmanuel

This other picture of Samora Machel, alongside P.Botha during ceremony after signature of Komatipoort Agreement in october 1984. The Komatipoort Agreement was the treaty by which South Africa will stop to help RENAMO,and in return Mozambique would stop to help A.N.C. and expelled its leaders in exile in Mozambique. Samora Machel is wearing 3 unidentified decoration. Watch also what one of his "body guard" is wearing. Emmanuel

Hello JDM and all others members. I have google picture of Samora Machel, and I found these. It's from a ceremony in Maputo in 1984.Sorry I have no idea what he wear..... Emmanuel

Here is Niger Medal of Honour of Custom Service. This medal was created by decree N° 66.050 of 18 March 1966 to distinguish loyal & devoted service by custom agent ,and also act of valour during their duties. You must have been a custom agent for at least 12 years, to have the right to be awarded this medal (read the post below by Megan, it seems now 15 years as custom agent is a minimum). The diameter of this medal is 32 millimeters. Emmanuel
-
Hello Gentlemen, here is the Niger : Croix de la Vaillance or Cross of Valour. This seldom seen decoration was created by Decree N° 65.064/PRN of 30 April 1964. The ribbon may wear a palm (citation to army order), or a star (citation to army corps). Thanks to Ilja to have rectify the ribbon on the above post concerning Knight of Agricultural Merit. Now the picture is correct. Emmanuel
-
Hello ,the name is : Medaille de la Vaillance = +/- Medal of Bravery
-
Ilja when you download a picture, watch out about the ribbon !!! That piece is the one from the Hermann Historica Auction december 2011 and the ribbon is the ribbon of Agricultural Merit Order of Chad !!!! So when you post something, watch out, or say it's not correct ribbon !!! Emmanuel

This is a photo of Pakubwono XII. What is the breast badge he's wearing ? In Jakarta Antique Market Street I found this breast badge that is unknown to me. Could it be the same ? Could our friend Windu explain what this breast badge is ? The inscription reads : ANGKATAN 45. Could it be a commemorative award for 45 years of Independence ? The badge is 43 millimeters and is made of light gilded metal. It's a breast badge from the Republic of Indonesia, but I have no data concerning it. I have included it in this topic, just because it seems Pakubwono XII is wearing it. Emmanuel

In the Tri Windu Market I also get this medal from Pakubwono XII with reverse date 1876-1926. I guess it's not our calendar,as pakubwono XII passed away in 2004. Maybe,as there is a 50 on reverse it's a Golden Jubilee Medal (Pakubwono XII reigned 59 years from 1945 till 2004). The medal is made of silver and diameter is 30 millimeters. If our friend Windu can help us,he's most welcome. Emmanuel
