Matty, thanks!!
Georg Rüffer, born 1871 was an Amtsgerichtsrat in Breslau and Reserve Captain, originally from the Foot Artillery.
As well never mentioned in the official publications due to the late award.
I did know his HOH3X already from the Mitgliederverzeichnis Landwehrkasino Breslau.
You see, there are quite odd sources....

Matt,
"Die Presse" and other local Papers were sometimes even faster than the official publications.
If Nadrowski would have been a local businessman or lawyer and not a career Reichswehr Officer, we would have missed him until now.
I've noticed publication delays in the Militärwochenblatt up to 3 months.
Most of the awards of the HOH3X end of September up to the Abdication did therefor not make it in the MWB or Staatsanzeiger.

Daniel

Matty and Dave,
great info on LOEB!
thanks a lot!!
Still struggling with the 2 Müllers, Which one might fit to which published HOH3X...

Wow!
a nice example for the complete different handling of decorations in the Stasi.
An Army Major would be happy to get a NVA merit medal in Gold or a Kampforden in Bronce; a Stasi Major could get already a VVO :-)
..and not to forget the nice extra money which came with it.

It seems a bit complicated.
Tirpitz was no "real" Großadmiral.
Proper Großadmirale (with Baton) were only v.Koester, Prinz Heinrich and v.Holtzendorff.
The Navy unlike the Army did not have the rank equivalent of a Generaloberst or Generaloberst mit dem Rang eines Generalfeldmarschall.
So they had to "invent" something special for Tirpitz and gave hm the Title of a Großadmiral with the rank badges of a rank below.

By AKO from 1888, the Prussian Princes and the General Adjutants got the badge in Gold.
General á la suite in silver with golden Crown and Cypher and Flügeladjutanten in Silver.
So Henry is wearing a gold badge, by the way, in reduced size.

@AlbertR, good question.
I have to find a date to say "now it is o.k.".
As long as I get nearly weekly additions, first names, birth/death dates, units and so, I think I will never be ready....

Mattyboy,
thanks a lot!!!
Another until now undetected one!

To give you all an update;
only 426 HOH-Recipients are still missing in my list.
With the help of a lot of people, we were able to find already 623 more HOH-holders, than Will Geile did list in his roll from 1997.

his Hohenzollern was not published anymore in the Militärwochenblatt, but he is mentioned as well in the Regimental History of the RIR 229.

I would say a Fürst translates better as an Earl.
Head of a little state or / and head of a family, while a Prinz is usually the son of a royal or ducal house.

Cartaphilus,
no, not necessary.
A guy á la suite of a Regiment did wear the rank he owns. If he is a young Prince with the rank of a Lieutenant or an old Herzog as full General.
That very British sytem of a Regimental honorary COLONEL did not happen in German states.
One could be CHIEF of a Regiment and could be a General.

Hello Peter,
Nice one!
I would guess, thats a Navy bar of a full captain or Konteradmiral.
The Red Eagle 3 with bow And Crown was awarded only 315 times.
136 of them were still in whatever kind of Uniform in WW1.

Thanks!!
Very interesting additional info. I did not know his 1st name and the Hessen connection.
Arnolds Hohenzollern was gazettet in the Staatsanzeiger 7th November, never made it in the Militärwochenblatt.

Meurer just got a 2nd class from Mecklenburg-Schwerin, according my sources.

@ my twin; the last 2 ribbons are the Baden 1902 Jubilee medal and a Schaumburg honor cross 3rd class.
@Claudius; who knows who married who in that times and how this bar made its way to the Kiessler family...
there was no Prussian Officer Kiessler who comes even close to that Combo.

Daniel

Until now, I checked 494 Regimental Histories.
For obvoius reasons, it might be easier, if I list 127 missing ones:
lets start with Prussian Infantry.
So if anybody has one of the following, pls check for nice Portraits and mentioning of Hohenzollern awards :-)
