mini chain was requested...
here it is.
It is indeed highly unusual, that he received the RAO4 short before the outbreak of the war in 1914, he shows it at the big bar and the mini chain but it does NOT appear at the ribbon bar....

Hi Igor,
born 1887, died 1972.
At the outbreak of the war "Starshi Leitenant" aboard SMS Dresden, as Kapit?nleutnant he commanded U 63, went in retirement as characterized Korvettenkapit?n.
Awards as I know are the plm, Hohenzollern House Order knight with swords, U-boat-badge and the Freikorps Loewenfeld cross.

short lesson in Ranklist speech:
SF (normally in Imperial GSF) Gro?herzoglich S?chsischer Falkenorden.
The G for Gro?herzoglich came out of use in the Reichsheer Ranklists from 1918 up.
1= Grand cross
2a= Commander with star
2b= Commander
3a= knight 1st cl.
3b= knight 2nd cl.
X= swords

No chance for Anhalt rolls.
The rolls for WW1 were destroyed in WW2.
Thats why for all Anhalt awards You can just estimate some numbers.
According to Dr.Scharffenberg the Friedrich Cross on the non-com ribbon was awarded around 600 times. So a rarity range of a plm!!!!!

I would say NO.
Feldwebelleutnants were Officers, and so not eligible for the MVK.
If there are Feldwebelleutnants listed wiht a MVK I?m sure they received it for an action still done as NCO.
There are even 4 (if I remember exactly) FwLt who received the Hohenzollern knights cross with swords.

My source?
most of them are in the already published rolls (BMV, SA, BZ)
HEK and WF are in the soon published rolls done by Rick, Uwe and me.
Otherwise I collect info about German Generals since a lot of years.

Hi,
niiice bar!!!!
I cannot 100% confirm that is IS Schoelers bar, but I have a good feeling.
Problem is, there are no other ways to confirm it tham by a portrait with THIS bar in wear.
All his known WW1 awards were around the neck:
RAO 2nd class with Oakleaves, star and swords
Princely Hohenzollern, Honorary Commanders Cross with swords
Bavarian Military Merit Order 2nd class with swords
Saxon Albert commander with star and swords
W?rttemberg Frederick Commader with star and swords
Baden Z?hringer L?we commander with star and swords

Hi Claudio,
great new find!!!!
BTW, the Italian Crown Order ribbon with the golden crown device on the bar indicates a Commander grade, awarded to Officers in LtCol- level.

Yes, no problem, but not before it is sold.
ID?s are just driving the price - good for the seller, bad for the buyer - bad for me, I get nothing.

The Messina Medal on a Saxon Honor cross ribbon I have?nt seen until now..... Probably same as on the ribbon bar - they took something what looks at least a bit close to the correct ribbon.

Yes it is. The BL1 is the Belgian Order of Leopold Grand cross.
BTW, Eulenburg was the MOST DECORATED German Officer ever. As a "court puke" of Willy 2 he received even more awards than for example Bismarck or Moltke....

No, Your Ribbon is that from the Karl Troop Cross.

Hi friends,
some words from me according the rolls.
Paul is asking how it will look like. The ?Roth style? was date, name, firs name (if available in the original roll), Rank, unit (if available in the original roll).
The new ?Rick and Daniel style? will be Name, first name, rank, unit, date, remarks like later promotion to General rank or remarks to other awards, birth and death year.
A word about the time. Roughly I need some seconds to transcribe an award entry and additional 10 minutes for the added thing which are NOT in the roll. W?rttemberg will have around 23.000 name entries, so count around 3.800 hours!
W?rttemberg:
I did the MVO and Crown Order with swords, Frederick with swords, golden military merit medal, Merit cross with swords, Wilhelmscross with swords.
Big help came from Uwe Bretzendorfer and Werner Nickel.
Whats new, I noted everything according the insane W?rttemberg return policy.
And I did non-W?rttemberg awards given to Members of the W?rttemberg Army in WW1.
Ernestinian duchies:
As Rick already noted, we combine all 3 in one volume.
Altenburg ? done by the late Erhard Roth, is re-done and improved by me,
Coburg and Gotha is done ? more or less
Meiningen is done ? more or less.
In the next weeks I plan to go to all Ernestinian archives to see if anything else survived.
Weimar:
I?m expecting 2 last copies from the archives and we will be ready.
I will not speculate now for future plans like a re-done Royal Hohenzollern roll or a re-done Saxon roll before we finish the actual projects. Reu? and Schwarzburg rolls are there in the archives. I will go there next weeks to see??

Hi Chris,
I would guess Adolf Frhr.v.B?low, born 1870, died 1944, 1914 Major in IR 31, retired as LtCol from IR 159.
Other awards: Red Eagle 4, Saxon Albert knight 2nd class, Weimar falcon knight 1st class where he got the swords to the cross as only other WW1 award I know at the moment.

Hi David,
A closeup of the medal bar and the 2nd pic You mentioned would be helpful.
I can say he got HOH3X, SA3aX and BZ3aX from the existing rolls.
KO4, Joh, Cent, REKj3, SLH4 he had peacetime.

Naval trapezoid ribbon bar of Marine-Oberstabszahlmeister Wilhelm Landwehr
in Germany: Imperial: The Orders, Decorations and Medals of The Imperial German States
Posted
yes, but even for this 1917 list, there are NO colonial medals mentioned. Unless a cross-check in the Orders Almanach brings a success..
Anyway, I do not think that there are that many of salesman examples. This small "navy style" trapezoids have more been a fashion than official. Big Trapezoids and the new M1915 were the official ones.
