Many thanks for that. Just to be sure, that is letter 'I' in "Ia"not number '1'?
It is the Roman Numeral for 1.
Here are the others...

Ib/Kfz Kraftfahrzeugoffizier (Division Motor Pool Officer)
Ib/WuG Waffen- und Geräte-Offizier (Arms and Equipment Officer)

The Operations Officer (or Chief Of Operations) was referred to as the Ia.

I'm afraid that the 'Beamte' area of the Wehrmacht isn't something I know much about so can't be of much help but I would think the Administrator side could cover many different branches.

You have the rank correct. Three stripes is a Korvettenkapitän (2 & a half stripes would be a Kapitänleutnant and 4 stripes is a Fregattenkapitän). I can't quite make out the full details of the sleeve eagle on the cuff but if it is 2 stripes under the eagle than he is a 'Verwaltungsbeamte des gehobenen Dienstes'.

Unfortunately he isn't listed in Lohmann & Hildebrand's Die Deutsche Kriegsmarine Vol III, nor is he listed on the KM crew list site or in the Volksbund database.

There have been a couple of Kleist hand-signed citations on the market in the last couple of months and they tend to be quite cheap (I've yet to see a single example for more than 100 Euros).
There is a Gebirgsjäger Pionier set here... http://www.military-antiques-stockholm.com/index.asp?contentpage=showproduct&page=1&id=15418&kategori=175

Well, the signature of Walter Assmann does match the example I have seen when he signed as an Oberst. As for the stamp it could be caused by too much ink on it when used, or maybe just a badly maintained one where 'gunk' has built up between the letters to spoil it.
The Kleist signature isn't actually a hand signed example. The Kubanschild citations were signed off by using a stamped version ofhis signature.
At the end of the day it all comes down to what you are comfortable with - if you have any doubts than why chance it? The market is awash with citation groupings at the moment, and alot of them are at decent prices, so another one will come along sooner rather than later if you decide to turn this one down.

To all who may be interested
Finally I have good news for You. After months of hard work I can now announce that most of the Name Registers to the DAL are ready. Until now I could make :
a) all Hptm./Rittm. from DAL T Stand 1.5.44 (same complete style like in Keilig´s Rangliste/DAL 1.5.44) (ca. 4,5 MB) 50 €
b) all Obersten down to Hptm. from DAL 1.5.43 incl. San., Vet. u. W-Offz. (but intentionally without Gen. and OL. & LT.), in the same complete style like above.(ca. 8,5 MB) 100 €
c) all Obersten down to Hptm. from DAL 1.5.41 (but intentionally without Gen.), but this in a simple style (ca. 0,6 MB) 10 €
d) I am now just working (I made about the half) on the Name Register of DAL 1.5.40, and here too all Obersten down to Hptm. (and intention. without Gen.), this in a simple style like above). I guess it´ll be finished in August.......
e) it remains to be made the Name Register from DAL. 1.5.42 and I plan to make it in September.......
Who is interested to buy my Name Registers, which have cost me so many work hours (each Name, each line handwritten/typed in Computer and all checked), must sign before a Copy-Right declaration
Thanks + Regards, Rossano
Certainly sounds interesting. You should place an ad in the Trade section.
In C you mention it is in a more simple style - do you mean it doesn't contain the same amount of information as in Keilig's book or just the presentation of the information is different?
Is it possible to provide a screen shot of a page from each so people can see a sample from them?

Unidentified signature of a Luftwaffe Hauptmann und Kommandeur
Stamped: Flakartillerieschule IV - Lehrstab A - (Entfernungsmessschule)
München, 13-12-1939 (Luftgau VII)
Taken from a Sudeten Medal award document
Nice example. That belongs to Hauptmann Hanns Baier who as a Major commanded Fallsch. Fla MG-Btl at Crete in 1941.

That looks like a great resource for the subject matter and obviously a labour of love.
