Can anyone tell me the difference, if any, between the breast stars of the "special class" and "grand cross" of the Slovakian Order of Prince Pribina. None of my sources distinguish between the two.
I'm almost sure there's the same award. But once I met very strange star of Czechoslovakian order of the White Lion -
I think it was made from the Pribina' star.

I am betting that in a few cases a firm in (lets say) London makes awards for a few countries.
As some of these are multi part medals, if they can use the same dies to 80% to make a medal from country XXX and country YYY... they try and get the designs amended to suit their needs.
Nice comparisons!
Best
Chris
You're right. I am of the same opinion. But I'm sure it isn't only "London's case". What about this couple France-Armenia?

Tskhinvali was awarded the honorary title of Hero City Сегодня, 19:03 Today, 19:03 The information from the same site:
Tskhinvali was awarded the honorary title of Hero City Сегодня, 19:03 Today, 19:03 Tskhinvali was awarded the honorary title of Hero City Сегодня, 19:03 Today, 19:03 Tskhinvali was awarded the honorary title of Hero City Сегодня, 19:03 Today, 19:03 "Today, 19.03. Decree of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia: for the courage, steadfastness and heroism displayed by the people and defenders of the city in the fight for freedom and independence of the Fatherland capital of South Ossetia, Tskhinvali, was awarded the honorary title of City - Hero. This decree was read by the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Eduard Kokoity, at the ceremonial meeting devoted to the Day to start addressing the people of South Ossetia for independence".
The Ossetian title of the Hero didn't exist to present day. I don't know whether it is only as "virtual" title or something like "Golden Star medal" will be instituted too. Today most of post-soviet countries (except Moldova but plus Abkhazia) have titles and decorations of this kind.

wouldn't it be linked to the VDNKh? I can't remember if Kiev had its own VDNKh park... or if it is linked to the Pavillon of Ukraine in the Moscow VDNKh.
Yes, of course. This is a badge of Ukrainian VDNKh (now - National Expo Center). Inscription: "Exhibition on Attainments of People's (or National) Economy". Abbreviation below: "Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic"

This is the Jordan 40 Years of Reign Jubilee Medal 1952-92.
This medal was manufactured by Huguenin.
This medal comes with a ribbon, that I unfortunately do not have (my next post will be the ribbon colour bar).
If anyone can help ?
Emmanuel
It closely resembles saudi Liberation of Kuwait medal. The shape is practically the same (as well as the date of the manufacturing, by the way)

Dear Megan,
thank you. Your Bosnian contribution is really priceless
When I saw these decorations on eBay a couple of weeks ago I thought: 'Wow! Megan told about them on her site'. And now I think: 'WOW!!! Megan HAS them!' Congratulations! And my best wishes!

King George Tupou V established another new order in Tonga during 2008.
It is a Royal Family Order, very similar to those of that name in the UK and other European realms, conferred almost exclusively on female members of the Tongan Royal Family. The insignia consist of an oval miniature portrait of the king in white tropical naval uniform, without cap, wearing orders and medals, against a background of green palms and open sky. The miniature is surrounded by a border of cut-diamonds, with a silver and enamel crown and suspension device at the top. The badge is worn from a bow of mint-green watered silk on the left shoulder.
Cheers
James
Hi,
both images and information about new Tongan orders are on the brilliant site of Christopher Buyers:
