I am not sure about the colorization of the star (and if it comes to that – of the propeller too) since obviously this badge went through a hard trial! Even lost his original wide pin

Well my dear colleagues – its time! Time for the gold wings/silver wings specimens. Because Peterson wasn’t completely wrong when he wrote about Officer Badges with wings in gold gild. Indeed sometimes (or rather "hardly ever" ) we could meet such specimens. Unfortunately I’ve never seen boxed or inscribed specimen. So I don’t have any time coordinates for such badges.

And here we have very interesting NCO badge made in silver straight from 1940. We know the exact year for this specimen since it is “jubilee” badge that was issued in 1940 (2600th anniversary of Empire). Quite common practice by the way (buckles, sake cups, gratuity cigarette cases and clocks, etc). This type has star and propeller in gold gilt, but rays in silver (?). The tricky part is wings - looks like they were oxidized Propeller has solid blades.
