    1. Dated May 1944. Wondered if someone could give me any history on the booklet and it's potential value.61 pages, mostly text but has some simple maps / plans.
    2. That was my initial thought. However, i was curious to see if they had been " legitimately " renamed. Need to be sure before i inform the family but i'm almost certain this is a faked group
    3. That's what i'm concerned about, TS. I'm researching the group. It was purchased years ago by a collector who recently passed away. I don't doubt that he thought it was genuine but even though tampering, faking etc is more common now, it has been happening since collecting began. The China medal also appears thinner in the southern hemisphere ! Here's a pic of the naming
    4. There's a chance the stars are unrelated as there were some miscellaneous unassociated items with the group. Just about to post pics
    5. According to the inscriptions on the medals, J.J Dougherty was a trumpeter in the Boer War, and during the Boxer Rebellion of 1900 ( where he received the Taku Forts bar ), then Sergeant during WWI 24482 in the 62 company RGA then 281977 R.A during WWI Also has the bronze 1902 Coronation medal I can find him on the National Archives site for WWI but nowhere as yet for earlier campaigns It's a nice group of QSA with three bars, China with Taku, WWI WM and VM, WWII DM and 1902 Coro medal, with miniatures. loose medals are WWII WM and two stars
    6. I'll post the pics later this morning but the text is " Zur Errinerung Und Unseren Stapellauf . sen 4-7 Juli. Kiel 1896 " which doesn't give anything of interest other than the date / place. If i know which shipping line it is, i can then work out which ship from the launch date - unless it's celebrating one of the regattas they held there.
    7. Hi I'll post a pic later once i've found my camera but was hoping someone could identify this flag for me ! I have a silver beeker / cup made to commemorate a launch at Kiel in 1896. On one side is some German text, the other side has 3 enamel flags on a mast. Above the white and red ensigns is a flag with 2 red and 2 white squares, the letter E bottom left, the letter C top right and in the centre a J within a circle. It's commemorating a launch or Stapellauf and notes the dates 4th to 7th July 1896. Is this a shipping company house flag, and if so, which one ? Many thanks.
    8. I have an incuse PA makers mark on the back of a Blockade Runners' award. Any ideas ?
    9. Does anyone know if the clothing, caps and berets were stamped ? I have access to some purportedly original clothing from someone who served in the Falklands and the clothing is blue stamped " Special Air Services Commando " or " Army Paras " etc. in a circle. Even a book on SAS guidelines is stamped similarly but with " Falklands " within the circle. Clothing has captain's epaulettes and the ribbed " security " jumper has SAS motto patches above a patch with a winged parachute The beret is Kangol, the green khaki shirt and trousers appear to be German made. Thanks for any help.
    10. Thanks, both of you. Any reason for the Johannes Heinrich label aswell as the main Geiger label ? Has it been repaired ? I can't see any alterations - just thought the second makers label was odd. What's the value in todays market ?
    11. 5th Speedboat Patrol ( 5 Schnellbootgeschwader ) visor cap. Makers label for August Geiger. Appears original to me. Possibly post war era. Thoughts and opinions much appreciated.
    12. to Battery Sergeant Major Arthur Kent, with paybook containing entries for Gibraltar etc between 1856 and 1875. Anyone know anything about him or how i can find out ?
    13. I saw a badge the other day. A circular white metal plate decorated in thistles etc. Upon this were two shepherds crooks which crossed at the centre of the badge, upon those was a gilt metal lamb / sheep but not the Paschal lamb used by the Queens West Surrey. It was the size of a normal helmet plate or large cap badge and was pin backed. Any thoughts ?
    14. Wurttemberg Knight 2nd Class with swords. There's currently one on German ebay, ending in two days, and price is currently 150 euros with 16 bids. Might double by closing. http://home.att.net/~david.danner/militaria/wuerttemberg.htm Good site for your research
    15. How about LF in the similar style to the LG Lewis Gunner badge ?
    16. I'll post the other pics later but whilst we're on a roll, a bear holding a post / tree trunk ?
    17. Oh yes !!! Have loads of them. Any idea about a pair of two piece badges with CG surmounted by a rose ? They're like the SG Scot's Greys. Could they be Coldstream Guards ( but wouldn't have thought the rose would match ? ) I'll take an overview pic and then you can request for more detail on anything you see fit. Thanks again, Leigh.
    18. Thanks very much, LK. Your opinion is always appreciated ( you gave me some info on a Leeds Pals badge over on Wehrmacht and told me about this brilliant forum ) So you think the Black Watch is an ok, period example ?
    19. The second one i have had trouble locating in KK. They mention silver and plastic versions but this appears to be white metal - plated, nickel etc.
