    1. One for our Canadian friends. METROPOLITAN TORONTO POLICE
    2. The first one looks like a summer issue ? Do the gold bullion cords show a rank ?
    3. From previous threads I seem to remember that these are Austrian - please add further details and the information that we mentioned in the Intro. Post..
    4. This is a very interesting and decorative Police cap from Argentina - probably for an officer. The badge is very finely worked in bullion.
    5. PLEASE SEE ' INTRO. WORLD POLICE FORCES' FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WE ARE HOPING WILL BE ADDED. Now that the computer problem has been sorted, I will be adding the last four from the first box and another 7 have just arrived. I think these two hats are German - it will be interesting to have full identification and some further details on each Force.
    6. Thanks Les - again, exactly the additional information I was hoping would be added to the caps. When did the amalgamation take place ? I must say you have a very trained eye to have spotted the chalk marks. I will get someone to tighten the cords - my hands don't do things like that any more.
    7. Hi - Les. Very interesting that you think Cambodia - will make it even rarer. I lived for over three years in Thailand and recognised the Royal Umbrellas - hadn't even thought of the other Countries in the area. Were there any other symbols that made you think Cambodia ? If I remember the maker's label is from Bangkok. I do have another 4 or 5 pictures to post in this series - and the next box is due shortly. Will be a little while before I can post my main laptop has gone down with problems caused by the server. Something to do with trying to up-date cellphones at the last minute for fans to watch football-on. My Photo Impressions is on that computer. I look forward to your further comments on this cap. Mervyn
    8. I - for obvious reasons - feel excluded from this thread ! The subject of 'subliminal terrorism' will be raised urgently with the U.N. Actually, it's been very interesting to learn the history of your flag - would make good subjects for other countries. I have a question for you - answer will be much lower down : What is a collector of flags called ? VEXIOLOGIST
    9. Tomas - a great set of photos and they show the weapons collection off very well. I could identify many of them - however, not all of them. I see they are numbered - did you get a catalogue which would allow you to just list the name of each weapon ? This thread follows on very well from Helen's views at the Pitt Rivers Museum. Mervyn
    10. Thankyou Mk 1 - and welcome to the Forum. Nice to see the partial set of marks - for future ref. it would be good to add the other, more obscure ones. For interest - did Ceylon and the West Indies have their own marks ?
    11. Two intersting items, Jason. The photo has a lot of good historical ref. material. I see the .303 bandoliers look to be identical with the Boer War issue. (p.s. - I haven't forgotten our campaign for the museum - what is the name of the main newspaper in Brisbane ?)
    12. Sorry if I confused the issue Ed, I was really only mentioning that the Met. had a similar insignia. The rank was for a senior sergeant to be in charge of the front office in a busy police station. They abolished the rank - I think, in 1972 by promoting all S/sgt's to the rank of Inspector. The book is out of print - although copies are always available on Google at about the US$40. I have a number of mint copies and offered through PICA (Police Insignia Collectors Assoc.) a special offer of £14 incl. of p&p in the UK. Quite a number were ordered as there are only three major books on Police Collecting. For Google - look for 'The Policeman's Lot - Quiller Press. 1985. Mervyn Mitton. If anyone wants one direct IM and I will give you a UK address who will send by post. (Sorry for the commercial - but , you did ask.)
    13. Les - congratulations on a very informed set of comments - you have certainly studied your subject.
    14. Hello - a new face. Welcome Les - do you have a police background or, a collector? The crown and chevrons used to indicate a Station Sergeant in the Metropolitan Police.
    15. Since I first posted those few Japanese notes, it is amazing Bob, what you and Tim have been able to add. Must make this post a good ref. for any other collectors ?
