    1. Thanks Frank.....and all of you.....very humbling.....and now none of my hats fit. Seriously I would love to meet him. But I am officially banned from letting the bust go, even to the subject person, unitl after the May 2012 model show. Gotta obey the controlling shareholder. Colin
    2. Wow - high prasie. Thanks gents. But if you look at www.planetfigure.com you will see stuff that is far superior to my work. I will take him along to a model show in Philly early next year and see how he does. After that he will either remain in my collection or move on. It may be a job of work prying him out of my older daughter's hands though. Colin
    3. Thanks Frank....the model is one of the nicest I've done but the photography isn't more than hacker level. Thanks for the tip on the yellow edges to the OMM ribbon. I knew that but was blind to it and would have forgotten. I will print out a couple of pix and send them off to General Dallaire. Hopefully he gets a chuckle out of it. I'll let you know. Cheers Colin
    4. Frank - hilarious. I was finishing him while you were typing I think. No fear of a cat-astrophe. Just too busy at work. Here's the finished model. I will post my next effort here when I get going on it. Cheers Colin
    5. This is a great article about a guy who found a stein that his dad picked up in the war, traced its unique history to a major German resistance figure, and returned it to the family in Germany rather than making thousands. Very honourable! Colin http://www.centredai...th-history.html
    6. Haven't seen that pic since I was 15 or so. Great exchange. Thanks Colin
    7. Very nice collection and very nicely presented. Thanks Colin
    8. Thanks gents - I will send him a picture when I am done. And thanks for the yellow edges comment Frank - I missed that! Colin
    9. Almost done - just need to add a leaf to his shoulder flag, paint the UN crest and tidy up. A base is in the mail. I will post the final product. Colin
    10. I will check Pigeard's "Etoiles de l'Eempire" for you but its a long shot. I did some internet searchign for the 18e Division in Armee de l'Interieur and there is very little out there. MOst strange. I found a fair bit on 17e Divisions though. Let us knwo what you coem up with as I woudlahve thought that this DIvision and this general officer would appear at least in some oreders of battle available on the net as the Revolutionary wars are somewhat popular withs students and wargamers. Colin
    11. You are right - Six does not have anything on Noel Huard, only Huard de St Aubin. Perhaps Noel Huard was known by another name as many French generals were? This may be of use http://arnauld.divry.pagesperso-orange.fr/general_huard.htm Colin
    12. Yes Chris, I checked his actual eye colour by taking a screen capture from the "Shake Hands with the Devil" documentary film and blowing it up. For modern figures, colour videos, news clips and documentaries are great resources. The difficulty in doing WWII or earlier portraits is that eye and hair colour are not always immediately apparent. Then its guessing time unless one can talk to a descendent or find the detail in a bio. But his eyes are too blue. Dallaire has grey-blue eyes so I need to tone them down a bit with glazes./washes. Thanks Colin
    13. Repainted the face and I like this one better. This is painted in Vallejo acrylics with Citadel ink washes. Colin
    14. Thanks for the kind comments. I don't have a lot lese to show. I did post my 1/6 sculpted Marshal Ney when I first joined (http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/34294-murat-and-ney/page__view__findpost__p__322007) and the Romeo Dallaire bust I am currenty working on (http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/50565-major-general-romeo-dallaire-unamir-1994-15-scale-bust/page__view__findpost__p__463044). I will continue to post in progress shots of anything new I sculpt and paint. Colin
    15. You could use 28mm wargame figures. See these limbers and guns from Foundry. Other types of tropps can be selected from the bubbles at the top of the page. Pricey but nice figures sculpted by the Perry twins. http://wargamesfoundry.com/historical_ranges/single_packs/darkest_africa/british/?sector_id=2 Colin
    16. Neat. I envy you Frank. I would really like to meet him as I have been an admirer since I heard him on "As it Happens" reporting from Kigali weekly in '94. After viewing "The Last Just Man," "Ghosts of Rwanda" and the two "Shake Hands with the Devil" films, my admiration only increased. And then there is Carol Off's book that lionizes Dallaire at Lew McKenzie's expense. Thanks for the comments on the bust....still a long way to go on it. Colin
