    1. I have just recently purchased this helmet plate. Its the standard Glamorganshire Constabulary 'blank centre' plate that was worn between 1894 and 1904 which had QVC and KC examples. In my own collection I do have 'blank centre' plates with both Victorian Crown and Kings Crown and most insignia of this force going back into the Victorian period....but, I have never come across a blank centre plate with a Fleur de Lys badge separately fitted central badge. I am Curator of the South Wales Police Museum ( including historic collection of Glamorgan Constabulary ) but have before never seen an example of this badge. Anyone know anything please?
    2. Hi Mervyn......Have just recently swapped off a Sheffield 'Noddy' helmet which is exactly the same....twin vent holes to the back of the helmet. Would still like to hear from you at some point regarding the hangars. Cheers...........Ross
    3. Thought that members may like to see a rare and not often seen early helmet of the Irish Garda Siochana............Ross Mather
    4. Will post a photo at a later date. Just picked up a badge with a lot of mainly very old police items. 8 point star 10 cms x 10cms. Looks like aluminium with a frosted type outer coating. In the centre is a seperately fitted red circle - 4 cms which is fitted by pinning through to rear of star badge. Seperately fitted again and onto the red circle of it is a German eagle standing on a swastika which is enclosed within a wreath. Rear of the badge has 4 bendable fixing prongs. Can anyone give me an idea of its identity please. Thanks.................Ross
    5. Hi Mervyn, Thanks for the reply. Ive no reason to doubt the old chap that I had the belt and several other old police items from of its originality. But its surplus to my requirements and hopefully can recoup some of my outlay by selling it. Thanks anyway....Ross
    6. Hello, Ive just picked up a leather belt with the brass fittings. The S shape brass snake fitting is missing. It has a small semi circular ammunition pouch, the stamp on the back is only partially visible and shows 1908 (London) Ltd. Has a revolver holster that is open at both ends. The gun would be held in place by a leather strap that fits over the weapon and secured onto a brass stud. There is a sturdy truncheon holder complete with top cover and inside that, a standard truncheon. The belt itself has a stamp mark on it T.H.& S. LTD. I assume that this may be an RIC belt but would appreciate any information on the supplier etc. Thanks.................Ross
    7. Hi Jamie, I have a Somersetshire Constabulary helmet of Victorian period origin. It is a two panel helmet very similar to the one that you have shown. Ross Mather www.britishpolicehelmet.co.uk
