Thnx. Thats so very cool I can just picture it in front of me "What was that ribbon again? Red green or green red?"
Does anyone have more biographical information on Uthemann?

Dear Drspeck
The bar looks original to me, and the double RAO is also not a problem IMO. I think it's a 4th class cross with crown and a 3rd class cross with Schleife. Lovely pre-WW1 medalbar.
Kind regards, Laurentius
Thnx.
Could it be Naval, 1907-1914 period? I have the pre-war Rangliste somewhere

Dear all,
I was fortunate enough to be able to pick up a group of ribbon bars at Zeige’s latest auction. I received them recently. I will be posting some of these, starting with some of the (pre-)ww1 bars. Let me know If better images are desired.
First up is this nice pre-ww1 trapezoid ribbon bar. I believe the last four ribbons are:
- Russia Order of Saint Stanislaus
- Greece Order of the Redeemer
- Ottoman Order of the Osmanie
- Ottoman commemorative medal to the 1889 visit of the Kaiser to Constantinople
Any thoughts on this bar? All feedback much appreciated.
Regards. Peter

Thanks for the bump, appreciated
The last ribbons look to be the usual suspects; Turkey, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungaria and Spain (order of the yoke and arrows)

Alexander Stoll got this medal for his help at the great explosion in the ammunitiondepot in Marienhafe, a small village near Wilhelmshaven where he was stationed at that time. Three other persons got the same medal for the same event in 1920, September 9th.
The Medal was awarded from 1927 to 1934, only 87 pieces. The first ward tokk place in 1927, March 17th and the last in 1934, April 4th.
I suppose, it was delivered in a small box, but i am not sure. But there was a nice document, I have here in my archive, but it has too many bites, to present it here.

Could this guy have been one of the recipients of this livesaving medal (since there are no other ww1 medals on this bar)?

Another bar that came with that mega stretched out ribbon bar.
Note the S hilt swords. I think these were added later since the prongs of these swords do not go all the way through. I'm going to leave these where these are though because I don't want to run the risk of tearing something.
Any thoughts on the last 2 ribbons? Baden jubilee medal and Sweden order of the sword?
Thanks. Peter

Dear forum members,
Some time ago I picked up this mega long ribbon bar - 18 ribbons in one row. The bar has actually retained its shape when it came of the uniform - it's still bend.
What are your thoughts on this one?
Also, I rarely see these narrow ribbons. Does anyone know if there were any rules or regulations concerning the use of these or are these just a personal preference of the wearer?
Thanks. Peter

Hi Nicolas,
I was fortunate enough to be able to pick these up but haven't come around to posting them. I will post better pictures of them in different threads.

Dear forum members,
These came in today after a long wait; a postcard, a ribbon bar and a photo (copy) of the bar in wear. The name that came with these is Alfred Jacobi. This name is also on the postcard addressed to him. The postcard has the handwriting of one Hugo Sperrle, at that time (49) living in Thaining.
I can't find a complete and/or matching list of Jacobi's medals for comparison. Does anyone have this information?
Thanks. Peter.

Lovely ribbon bar Peter! I don't think we can know for sure if this is a WW1 2nd Class or WW2 awarded grand cross, first class or second class decoration. The ribbons were the same.
P.S. You cannot count out the Kriegsmarine. As Andreas says, the eagle devices were the same as the Heer.
Hi all, thanks for all the info.
Some good points have been put forward. It's an interesting combo. The Oldenburg cross makes me think it's a naval officer, but the Westwall medal and the field-grey backing makes me think it is Heer...
Do we know of any full lists of names for the 2nd class 1918 and/or the 2nd and higher classes for the 41+ recipients?
On a different note, does anyone have a spare device for a ribbon bar for a 3rd or 4th class cross? This bar came without....
Regards. Peter

Thats a fantastic piece Mikko !
One of the nicest I´ve seen
Even if reserach going on I give a couple of more names just to check if I´m right
Liberty Cross 1st Class without Swords with Breast Star 1918 2 awarded
Lauri J Ingman
Pehr E Svinhufvud
Both Finnish Politicians.
One thing I learned the last days is that my numbers for awarded Liberty Crosses is far to low
I thought there where only 509 3rd class 1918 awarded but the real numbers must be more than 1000 !
Also 2nd Class 1918 I thought 152 awarded but the real numbers is closer to 300 , they are not so rare as I thought.
The same goes probably for 4th class , I already seen that I have more names for 4th classes wo X and with Red Cross then I thought was awarded in total. It will be interesting to see the final numbers someday.
Christer
Hi all,
Could the wearer of this unnamed ribbon bar have been one of those 2nd class 1918 ricipients?

Nope - sorry - maybe for trade if it can be ID'd

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the thumbs up
There's not much to go on for identification so it's good to hear this has a chance of being identified

Have a look here:
Some of the awards do indeed match!
Thanks for the info
This list states a Landesorden and no social welfare medal
Can anyone confirm he also received a social welfare medal?
Can anyone confirm he received a landesorden (and which one) and would it have been logical to wear it or not wear it?

Not true. There is a list of police NSDAP members. This bar (if real) would date from 1940-1942 and the guy would be one of fewer than a 100 NSDAP members who were in the Police and had party numbers below 180,000 AND were Party officials! My guess is that this guy was not a Berlin cop, since so many of those senior officers got an Olympic medal...but it's not an absolute rule, merely a place to look....but note also the lack of Other state medals.
Glenn may be able to help you.
Hi Peter,
Nice Godet's bar... a bit beaten up, but I think it's a authentic one...notice also the convex metal bar (not straight) that follow the shape of the upper breast where the medal bar should be worn. Also the configuration in the back indicates in all the details that this is a Godet. Very likely it was badly stored in the the last 60 years. The wearer could have been a very young WWI veteran who could have risen to a quite senior police officer rank, but with no documents supporting this, there's no way to identify the owner of this bar.
Nice one, nevertheless!
ciao,
Claudio
Hi all,
I've been looking for some time now for a name, been through quite a list of police personnel.
I might have a possible match, but it could also be a very long shot.... I found this photo of Gerret Korsemann.
Can anyone tell what the awards of Korsemann are and if they are a unique combination?
Thanks
Peter

Hi all,
These ones came in a few days ago. They look like unworn Ostvolk Generalmajor shoulder boards.
Any thoughts on these?

Blue ribbon w/crown follows war-time/military awards--thus, maybe Yugoslav Crown Order? Perhaps commander grade? Crown devices shown in several 'popular' reference works as distinguishing marks of grade within the Yugoslav Crown Order with same usage as Italian royal system. If so, a gilt crown indicates commander grade. March '39-April '41 time frame? But Sudatenland, Memel, Iron Crescent, Hungarian & Bulgarian WW I commems ribbon order suggests something else missing or perhaps this is a second part of a ribbon group?
I am absolutely sure that this is the 2nd row of 2 bars...
The blue-crown as 922F already said is most likely the Jugo Crown Order.
Lots of greetings
Daniel
Excellent, thanks

Hi all,
I received this one recently. Unfortunately only the second row of this group...
Does anyone what the last ribbon is?

Hi all,
This one came in recently. It looks like an unfinished prototype PAB made of plastic/bakelite.
It's a real quirky item, just like the part bakelite recon clasp I found earlier
(http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/61414-recon-clasp-w-bakelite-eagle/?hl=bakelite). =)
I've added a photo with another PAB for comparison (only other PAB I have (ground dug)).
All thoughts, ideas, opinions are welcome =)

12 Place ww1 Prussian ribbon bar
in Germany: Imperial: The Orders, Decorations and Medals of The Imperial German States
Posted
Dear all,
I would like to show you another ribbon bar from the Zeige lot from last auction.
Prussian, 1914-1918. Dark blue/black backing. Naval? Godet? The second to last looks like a very faded Hessian...
Any thoughts? All feedback appreciated
