Interesting set of books spotted. Reminds me of the Soviet duo set with Hero biographies.
Anybody collecting Vietnamese ODM, have a look.

Seems like the Mongolia craze has died... hardly any posts here, items with dealers don't appear to be moving much, not much bidding on eBay, etc.
Back to obscurity?
If so, any reader, please offer me your gold hero star for sale:)
Reading back some old posts... and boy was I wrong. Having checked all major dealer sites and being frequent visitor of eBay I think the conclusion is just a different one: most if not all of the "good stuff" has found new collector homes.
Looking at major dealer sites... there's actually nothing left which sparks my interest (apart from some items on Nota Bene which sold a long time ago already). Only a few items which I'd really only buy "if the price is right" because of their beauty but not really to further my collection.
We're in a drought - and the "hype" is continuing but just for "lower end" items. The inflation on simple order of red banner, herder badge, etc. on eBay is simply staggering.
What next? (while I like the answer "research", I'll believe that when I see it!).

Pickings are slim for a long time on ebay... but I'm amazed at the prices now even becoming reality for these herder badges!

Time for me to hit the history books to decypher your posts
No worries, that's the great thing about this forum - learning something new every day!

This is some examples of afganistan order of Peace between peoples. This examples made in Soviet Mondvor. Will check at home for some documents which will prove that some afgani items were produces in USSR.
I have an award booklet for one (elsewhere on this forum). Off the top of my head, it looks very much Soviet produced as well.

Interesting... and if they would source badges from USSR... why not also medals?

I cannot imagine HOW those Glories would have been POSSIBLE.
Well - I hope for the best. I acquired it from the source of other sources (i.e. in Berlin) whom I'd put quite some faith in.
Let's see what comes out of research (i hope).

Some better scans. This is a heavy little gold award!
Still looks Soviet to me!

At least Mongolia never joined the Warsaw Pact (or NATO or . . . ).
Yep - with such a huge landmass and small population, they managed to do pretty well for themselves in not being crushed.

That's all - I hope somebody knowledgable can decypher anything useful from these doc's while I await research.
I also just submitted a seperate research request. My Russian boss came with a bag of orders/medals to work today. After long nagging by me she got her mother to look them up in St Petersburg. Her grandmother fought in the Finish war and later defended Leningrad. Subsequently he did chemical research related to rockets in a "secret" facility. Unfortunately most of the awards had vanished over the years however 1 red star still survived (along with some assorted other stuff) and that will provide best chance of finding something in the archives as I also have the name.
Nothing beats the excitement of awaiting research on a person that you have a direct relation to! Plus, his surname was... Zhukov!

OK, point taken - hope I didn't step on any people's toes
Reminds me of similar debate I have with my Russian boss sometimes... in the company I work for, she insists that Mongolia should be part of our sales region of former soviet countries... I keep pointing out that Mongolia was never member of Soviet Union... at which point she always points out that Mongolia may not have formally been part of USSR but informally did as Moscow saw fit... and then typically I get an ice cold look that Russian women seem to be pretty good at

Not entirely sure if this should be here - will have to check other threads later - these pics (and dates) are great though!
