"Hmmm...nobody any information for me?"
That's why YOU need to go to the Archives, copy EVERYTHING, and then retype it all onto nice Word Document Format files to share with us. Think of the fame! (OK, so there won't be any fortune....)
"But I?m searching for a woman...."
Well, because we ARE gentlemen, we won't tell your fianc?e THAT.
I just got married...I?m not searchinig any longer for a woman to live with...
There is a problem with the archives...the documents seem to be locked and they are not shown to the public. ? don?t know the reason.
Maybe I can find something in the archive of Lippe-Detmold.
Greetings

Amen!
But medals (?How much did that Bavarian cross cost??) is a lot easier than my former life (?How much were those new propellers??) - boat racing.
Hey Solomon, much happiness and a great life to you both.
Wild Card
My wife only asks how many pakets the next week will arrive...about the costs I better say nothing
But in June I?ve to reduce my buying...we?ll become a baby

WOW! I didn't knew that this medal is so rare. Thanks for the numbers!
For Lippe-Detmold these numbers are quite large
Other awards from this principality are 150 and less times awarded...very hard to find and very expensive.

Hello,
really nice awards and bar you have in your drawer
After showing you my nice awards from Lippe and Schaumburg-Lippe (not to forget the iron cross 1870 2nd class),
there are still some nice rare examples to be discovered
This miniature I love very much
-Order of the crown 3th class
-Order of the Red Eagle 4th class
-cross for war-aid Prussia

Hello again,
I allready mentioned it in my article "Order for art and Science 2nd class Lippe-Detmold" (Link)
?the set was incomplete?now it?s complete again :
The woman, who awarded the "Lippische Rose 2nd class with oakleaves" also got the
Order for art and science 2nd class Schaumburg-Lippe(cross-design, awarded since 1902 till 1918)
This order was spent in 1899 by Earl Stephan Albrecht Georg, who lived from 10. Octobre 1846 till 29. April 1911.
This piece is made of silver, the size is 37,5 mm x 52,2 mm (ring included)
The ring goes through the apple, the crown hangs moveable at the cross.
The center at the front and back are seperate mounted.
The design of the crown is the same, you can find at the golden merit medals Lippe-Detmold,
made by Carl B?sch, Hannover.
So i?m quite sure, that he also manufactured these orders.
The ribbon, of course in a bow-style for a woman, is gold-red-gold colored and of course the original.
In the golden stripes you can find thin silver-made threads.
On the front-center you can read ?F?R KUNST UND WISSENSCHAFT? (for art and science...).
On the shield you can find the typical rose of Lippe (Detmold and Schaumburg).
On the rear center you read the initials ?GR? for the earl Georg.
I?m sorry, but i don?t know yet the number of awards, but i?m sure it?s comparable
to the order from Lippe-Detmold...especially the number of women who awarded this order .
Hope you like it, too...
If anybody has more information, i would be very happy to read it.

Maybe, in the near future, we can all get together and do a thread on bow styled ribbon awards?
Wild Card
This would be great...i?ll keep an eye open for it
But at the moment another even rarer order on a bow-style-ribbon is on its way into my collection
..I?ll show it, when it has arrived.

I do have a question regarding these particular medals which is prompted by the document to a woman. Were these medals, like so many other Imperial German decorations, ever awarded or worn on a ?bow? style ribbon?
Wild Card
Again a look into the statutes (I hope, I translated it understandable):
Statutes war honor medal from 25. October 1915
[...]
? 2.
[...]
The war honour medal (on the combatant-ribbon) has to be mounted at the bar before all other awards from Lippe-Detmold, (on the non-combatant-ribbon) before all medals but direct after all orders from Lippe-Detmold, but women have to wear it on a bow-style ribbon in the awarded colours at their left shoulder.
( ? 2.
I never saw a medal on a bow-style ribbon, it might be very, very rare...in this way the style of the ribbon of my medal does not fit to the document

how many of the CROSS on noncombatant ribbon were there?
You really want to know that ?
There were from 18. Dec. 1914 till 13. June 1922 only 1.117 awards of the war merit cross with
the ribbon for non-combatants
Even less than the awards of the war merit medal....

Here you can see an example (I just introduced this book on a other military-board):

Here are the number of awards, I was searching for:
There were 459 awards with the ribbon for combatants (yellow center at the ribbon)
and 1.249 awards for non-combatans (white center), like my medal.

Assuming that point to be correct, why is it mounted between the two merit medals? All comments are most welcome - have at it.
Thank you,
Wild Card
First my congratulation...extremly nice and rare medal bar
I can help you:
Today a new published book which only deals with all (!!!) medals and orders from Lippe-Detmold arrived.
This book shows all awards (the rarest inclusive), tells the history, and gives information about the number of awards, their sizes and weights, the colour of their ribbons, the manufactures etc, etc.
At the end of this book all statutes are written down. There your can read the following:
Statutes military merit medal given October, 25 in 1908
[...]
? 3. The military merit medal has to be mounted before the silver merit medal
[...]
(? 3. Die Milit?r-Verdienstmedaille wird vor der silbernen Verdienstmedaille getragen)
The medal is mounted in the right way

Do you want to sell your ribbon bar? I have a good big friend for it...
Really nice bar...i?m still searching for one like this...
Your bar would get a very nice place in my collection, next to the other medals and orders from Lippe-Detmold

My visit in Detmold brought some more information :
The number of awards (according to the lists):
golden merit medal: 173 awards (incl. 64 untill 1907)
silver merit medal: 593 awards
And there is another important information:
Silver medal, made by Sy & Wagner, were all private sold and not awarded !
It?s similiar with the golden medal...only 16 medal, made by Sy & Wagner,
were delievered to the Staatsministerium Lippe-Detmold.
I don?t know if my medal is on of these 16.
But i still like my both medals

And here is a copy from a document (for the 3th class, but i?m sure the document for the other classes look similar)
I have changed this document, i?m not allowed to show the original document, so i erased the name and the date.
