Thank you both for your replies. This is helpful.
@Rick- yip, I have black lighted back and front and nothing glows. In hand the backing cloth seems secure, but if you are correct, perhaps the backing cloth was replaced or reapplied for a genuine reason? We probably will never know.
@Sascha- many thanks for these photos. I have not seen these before. Judging by the stick pin and Social Welfare Medal, some type of medic or doctor?
I found this medal bar photo in an old thread on here (no photo of the back). Looking closely at the medal bar you will see that the last ribbon on it is in fact for a Red Cross decoration (most likely Weimar?) and not the Lubeck Hanseatic Cross. Nothing to do with the ribbon bar I own but thought I would post it out of interest as the combination is similar.

Here is an officer ribbon bar I have. As there are oak leaves on the Zahringer Lion I am sure that the officer was at least a Hauptmann. The detail on the oak leaves is superb. The ribbon bar is in very good condition in general.

Prseumably somebody knew who "a Luftwaffe Oberst" was--since it's hardly secret with source materials. Hans von Schlieben of Inf Rgt 93. Perhaps not enough space to get into HIS bizarre career ( born 1875, with a weird RAO4X for WW1--wounded 1914 but front line to 1916-- retired in July 1918 with only a year's time as Major. In 1939 he was Betriebsleiter of Futtermittelfabrik (your guess is as good as mine) Jubra G.m.b.H. in Halberstadt... so he got All Dressed Up zur Verfügung WW2, replacing his lifetime XXV for his war's duration WLDAs--weird, since he had ZERO air force background!)
Zero air force background- most strange but an interesting parts of his story.
I believe v. Schlieben was also a holder of the Johanniter Order (Erhenritter).

Chris,
What an impressive grouping but such a tragic end to a life!
I hope you are able to get the Luftschutz document also, to keep the group complete.

What an amazing medal bar! Look at all those Hansa Crosses!!
Was there not a list made here of all owners of 3 x Hansa Crosses? I cannot recall how complete it is though but could be worth a shot.

I have never been able to pin this bar to one person. Best suspects are KL:
(T) Georg Fett PCO4, EK1, HH 6.4.04 16.7.15 a.D.22.11.19 Born 14.1.86 1931 Essen Staff?
(A) Gustav Wehr PCO4, EK1, HH 6.4.04 10.8.15 a.D. 22.11.19 Born 27.8.861931 Essen Ship Hindenburg
Paul
I really like this ribbon bar. I assume the reverse is done in black/navy blue to signify Marine?
