    1. "Incredibly are high the prices of gold coins."

Yep.  Gold took a huge price jump a few years back and while the spot price has dropped some it still retains value.  Silver went up as well at the same time, and then went down slowly but has not seen the same perceived value.  At least in my opinion.

What's a few good Communist Czechoslovak awards to look after with a tight budget?

    2.

I bought mine quite expensive about 10 years ago. What a pity,I did not wait to these days.

It's crazy, isn't it?  I'm not a huge collector with a big budget but I've never seen prices actually go down like this.  And these are not cheap, tin awards; in many cases they are real silver.  Nor were they awarded in hundreds of thousands or millions; they are fairly rare.  It's just crazy... :D

    3. I use the Mondvor site often, and since my native language is English I use the Chrome website translator and the results are very good.

There are a plethora of forums (this one included) that provide for images and information, many of them in English and those in other languages are easily translated in this day and age.

As for medal images I have a relatively extensive collection and would be happy to be involved with taking photographs of them.  But my time and effort would require some sort of compensation.

    4. This seems the best thread to post images of displays.  I don't want to create a new thread when a similar one already exists.

So here's my new display:  there's two places unfilled at the moment; one, the Order of Merit to the People 2c is in the mail right now, and eventually I'm going to add another Partisan Star to fill this out.

If any of you Yugoslav collectors have display images please share them here.  I love seeing collections. :D

    5. Bumping this old thread up because I am interested in Yugo precedence.

Bryan's first link is no longer working but I made a list from the second link.

      Here it is, albeit incomplete:

      1)    The Order of the Yugoslav Star

      2)    The Order of Freedom

      3)    The Order of the People's Hero

      4)    The Order of the Hero of Socialist Labor

      5)    The Order of National Liberation

      6)    The Order of the Military Flag (Order of the War Banner)

      7)    The Order of the Yugoslav flag

      8)    The Order of the Partisan Star

      9)    The Order of the Republic

      10)   The Order of Merit to the People

      11)   The Order of Brotherhood and Unity

      12)   The Order of the People's Army

      13)   The Order of Labor

      14)   The Order of Military Merit

      15)   Order of Bravery

      Help?

PS: A very useful Yugoslavian awards page: http://www.sammler.ru/database/index.php?cat=407.

    6. It's more than likely a reproduction.  It should look like these here: http://medalirus.ru/georgievskie-kresty/zovo-3-rus-jap-old.php

There were some crosses made outside of Russian that varied slightly in design that were also legitimate but I haven't seen one match our numbers (which are Russo/Japanese War era).

Is that maker's/content stamp at the top of your medal or just a blemish?

The suspension is a common, WW2 era Soviet suspension.  Pretty common for Imperial awards to be display as such.  See my George Medal mounted on a Soviet suspension (with other Soviet items).

Also, there is an Imperial Russian section here, hopefully a mod will move this thread there for more attention.

Is the wreath of the 2nd or the 3rd class hallmarked? I don't remember seeing 2nd classes like that before but of course that doesn't mean they don't exist.

It's the 3rd class with the hallmark, not the 2C.  I typed it wrong and by the time I realized I couldn't edit it.

I'm in the process of doing the same for the 2nd class. I just need to find a couple more and then I'll start a separate topic about it.

Looking forward to the 2C thread.  I'm in the market for one right now; it's gotta be a screwback with a hallmark and not "shinny" though. ;) They are somewhat common on ebay at the moment; just got to find a good price.

    9. Interesting.  New in pouch.

Seller's description: "Order of the Meritorious Service to the Nation with Silver Rays (Second Degree), 1961-1991, in solid silver (.800 fine, 33 grams approximately), partially gilded, 41mm, silver hallmarked and maker marked IKOM Zagreb, unissued, still in cellophane bag as was delivered by the manufacturer, with two related ribbon bars. "

    10. Radmilo,  Many thanks for doing this (and the other) threads here.  I'm slowly working backwards through this forum finding out a lot of great information.

I've added an old image of my T1.2.1.  It has no hallmarks sadly but the patina on this old image (no more than 10 years old) makes it almost surely silver.  The light gray patina on the screwplate you see here has changed to a very dark gray/almost charcoal black.  And the reverse of the Order is very smooth and reflective while continuing to patinate more slowly.  It's very 'shinny'.
