Hi,
a few days ago I got this picture from a club member - thanks heiko! - and would like to show it here.
A proud man, part of the "freiwillige kriegsfürsorge" wearing his red cross-medal 3rd class. Nothing special, but for me not often seen...

AMAZING - absolute amazing!
That was something I never expected - for me he is the guy, because of the name - its not a müller or schmidt...
And I would like to ask, too: Could this Info about him found in the net or could you post the file about him?
But anyway, thanks for that news and all the work you had
For all who didn't found my other post, here the full picture of him attached

Unfortunately I have no more Info about this guy - only this greetings at the rearside of the picture...
Hope to see sometimes in the future the lion on his cap to identify his profession for a little bit more "light"!
Anyway, till now thanks for help and info!

@all:
Thanks for an REALLY interesting discussion about my questions and some really new information for me!!!
Due to the lion at his cap - was he an "militärbeamter"? Or was it only the sign for bavarian forces at ww1?
Here the full picture of him, if someone is interested in:

Hi!
After putting this picture in the ek2-section I try it also here and hope for help!
Could it be possible that this ek2 is given for homeservice? In my oppinion the bavarian König-Ludwig-Kreuz was given for homeservice and without any award for bravery. Is this true? If yes, this must be an ek2 for homeservice - or not? An if not - why is didn't wear any other bavarian award like the MVK?
Hope to get some more information
Thanks

Hi!
First of all I'm not shure about putting me request in the right topic, but...
Some time ago I've got this bavarian picture with the information that it could be a cross for homeservice "Kreuz für Heimatverdienst". Why? He is wearing the "König Ludwig-Kreuz" AND the iron cross. In my oppinion you can't wear any award for bravery etc. and the "König Ludwig-Kreuz" together. So for me he got the ek2 at home - for service in bavaria.
Is the info about wearing the König-Lufwig-Kreuz only without any award for bravery true - and so: could this be a cross for homeservice?
I hope someone of you could help me!
Thanks a lot

And here a detailed view of the wonderful work:

...to keep this threat alive:
A nice and not often seen "newcomer": service award for 9 years of service, dutchy of Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, 2nd type given between 1888 and 1894 (letter "E" and oakleaves = HuS 1795). For me a really nice one!
According to the interesting link to the thuringian archive given here in the forum it seems to be awarded not so much (only to soldiers of the 6th thuringian IR Nr. 95, 1st and 3rd bataillon).
Hope you like it - and hope to see another to compare

"I am looking for an LtCol getting the ek2 in 1914"
On the basis of WHAT? Photo? ... ?
Yes, Rick - I know: it sounds not professional, and normally i am not someone with such nonprofessional questions!
Here's the background: It's based on a photo rearside signed 1914 with an LtCol with "82" on his shoulders and wearing an ek2-band. So I guess he got the ek2 in 1914. And because I would like to know who he is I ask here because of the great community and the possibility of research him...

Hi!
I need your help in a tricky research...
I am looking for an LtCol getting the ek2 in 1914 - probably for the battle of liege -, and after checking the prussian "Rangliste 1914" I found only two LtCol in the Regiment: Wünsche and Schallehn. So I would ask you about some more information about these two guys: does anyone of you have info about there military career or any other info? I was searching a lot of time, but without there full names or some more details... Or did I "lost" one more guy in the IR 82 (2. kurhessisches)?
Thanks for your help!
best wishes for 2010

Nice one, and as you said - not to common. Might we see the bar's reverse, too? Thanks.
No problem - Mache ich gerne, Sascha - vielleicht hast Du ja ebenfalls eine zum Vergleich?
Could be possible a bar made by Petry due to the design, but I am not shure. what do you think?
Here the picture of the reverse, nothing special to see and a little bit smaller, sorry...

Hi!
After a while of waiting for a nice piece today I've got one: the service bar of the grand dutchy of baden 3rd class for 9 years of service, made btw. 1868 and 1913. No marker information, but a really nice award and not so often seen before...
Hope you like it, too!
