    1. Rick: From the Augsburg side I see a Hans Albrecht Krug von Nidda associated with the University but too late for this piece. Perhaps other Augsburg associations that would lend some credence to the club suggested above. Hans Krug von Nidda was awarded the Pour Le Merite 7 Oct. 1918 could there be a tie in there? Vic
    2. This idea is certainly a good one as we are talking about a navy dagger. The Amazone navy daggger is a forerunner of the standard German navy dirk. The dagger is associated with the German ship Amazone. I wonder if the organization initials would make any more sense if the name Friedrich Albert Franz Krug von Nidda or one of his family members was on the scabbard. I feel am sure von Nidda was a regional name.
    3. Rick, I am sorry for the mis-placement. Yes, this is an Imperial German Navy Dagger pre-1900. Background information does help. sorry again. We had a guess of --- Akademischer Segel Club. Ever hear of such an organization?? Vic
    4. The scabbard of an Early German Amazone Navy Dagger has the following engraving on the scabbard. "Ihrem Scheidenden Kameraden Krug von Nidda der A.S.C." What are your ideas about the identity of A.S.C. ?? I bow to the masters and appreciate any help! Vic
    5. Rick, So are you thinking Deutsche Seemannsschule? That would make this a dagger worn by students being trained to be civilian sea captains, or by their instructors? From what I read this organization has been in existence since the mid 1800's and the first dagger appears in 2006 ? Strange occurance. Even stranger the dagger and the picture did not come together. They came from two different sources, but only 3 days apart! Vic
    6. Rick, I really thank you for all of this important data. You are way ahead of the field on this one! Button--
    7. I poated this in the Kriegsmarine section and Rick suggested I may get quicker information from you scholars. Rick is thinking Deutsch Seeamt or Seewarte. A researcher in Germany says regional Pilot Boat crew member in a large German Harbor or an employee of a large German Shipping company. I appreciate any help. Dagger is all steel, shows typical wear, has celluloid grip.
    8. Rick: This has been a stumper world wide so far---thanks for this input. No name on the picture other than the address of the studio Reeperbahn 9, Saint Pauli, Hamburg When you say Seeamt--What kind of official would we be talking about--this guy looks like a kid. SeeWarte---is this the same a harbor pilot. One researcher in Germany is thinking this guy was a regional harbor pilot in the Hamburg area. The dagger has a celluloid grip as opposed to ivory with is typical pre-WW I. Here is the blade.
    9. Hope fully some of you masters can identify this orgainzation. Here is a pic of the visor cap and dagger pommel with the unknown insignia.
    10. Yes, Eickhorn pieces are always in demand. This blade is stamped with the Eickhorn stamp for DAMAST but was nickel plated over and the damascus pattern is not visible. I am emailing some people in Romania, perhaps there is some interest in bringing such a rare piece home.
    11. Sal; I do not believe there is any tie in with Spain. I thought there was due to the word toledo, but probably not. Vic
    12. A salute to Pete! Here is the Ferdinand site--- http://www.cs.kent.edu/%7Eamarcus/Mihai/en...erdinanden.html
