You did well with Santa ! ! I wish he gave me such a gift ! ! A very nice example of around 1900 used to 1955.
I assume it has the Goudsmit maker marks?
Best regards

Indeed, they look impressed, which is a surprise as modern British medals are mechanicly engraved (i hope i use the correct phrase for it). Didn't knew they still impressed medal rims.

There is now a Type III British officially-issued Great War Victory Medal that has been discussed on the Great War Forum. It was issued in May 2015 (along with a BWM) to the next-of-kin of a British soldier whose BWM and VM had been returned by his mother and never re-issued. Unfortunately it appears as if the issued medals (see below) do not look any better than some of the current reproductions.
Got any pictures of the rim. I love to see the modern naming on these two.

As with medals of a lot of countries, the difference is in the small details.
Good luck with your quest.

Hi Brett,
Dutch military personel who fought in the British Forces in WW2 were awarded British campaignmedals. These were not allowed by the Dutch Government for wearing because the Dutch Government instituted the War Remembrance Cross with clasps for WW2. (the second from the left in the group, with the green orange ribbon). No double decorating was allowed by the Dutch authorities.
Nowadays however double decorating is normal. If a Dutch soldier serves for 6 months with a UN force he (or she) receives 2 medals; a Dutch one and an UN one.

Thabks Rob for your comment.
I took some pictures. The first picture shows above type 1 at the right. Left is an US VM type 2.
A closer look at the wire loop.
Detail of the obverse with the FRASER mark.
and as last picture of my type 1 and a type 2 together.

The last picture shows the type 1 at the right side. At the left side is a type 2.

Okay, thanks for the info.
I own two VMs with a MiD emblem, both sold to me as originals, but the laurels differ from each other.
I bought two different known repro emblems and guess what... now i have four slightly different emblems. I'm stumped.

For some reason the photo of "Scudamore's trio did not appear in the last post. Will try again.
Is this a repro MiD emblem i see on the VM?

As the cross is also the logo of the Dutch Reserve Officers Association (KVNRO) they own this cross and its form.
So, in the 1960-ties the National Board of this association decided to award this cross to people who were worthy to be merited by the board.
This meant that now and then an important general in the eyes of the association or a very busy reserve officer received this cross.
As you can see at the picture it is very close to the ten participations cross. The only difference is the closed laurel added to the ribbon.
Please note that you did NOT have to do the physical TMPT to receive this cross.
