Almost 500 postings & 5.800 views at GMIC-Yugoslavia
Gentlemen,
it seems, that Yugoslavia - as a own GMIC-section - is developing at a very rapid pace and that we are the fastest growing section at GMIC
.
It also seems, that GMIC-Yugoslavia attracted some new and recent members of the "Gentleman's Military Interest Club"
.
Many thanks to the great contributions all of you have done, for your special interest in the phaleristic world of communist Yugoslavia and again many thanks to Chairman Nick, who installed a own GMIC-section
.
Best regards
Christian
Hear hear! Indeed many thanks to all who have contributed and especially to Chairman Nick!

Military Merit Medal... but I cannot really tell you anything more than its name!
Hi Megan,
Appreciate the help!

It fills the niche in the Philippine ODM roughly at the level of the Bronze Star Medal.
Hi Dave,
Many thanks for the extra info.

Gordon, I think I neglected to congratulate you publicly on your becoming Charles Co-Host! I know you both are doing and will continue to do a fantastic job!

Terrible indeed. How that could could even convince a naive non collector is beyond me. I mean even if one looks around and does a bit of homework, its not that hard to draw the right conclusions!
Jim
Hi Jim,
I'd hope this is correct but I've seen some newbie collectors who are entranced by seeing tons of those small metal insignia plastered all over ribbon bars. I fell into the same hole with quite a few of mine... but I think on mine, at least to a newbie that they at least looked right, especially considering how there were no references (that I'm aware of) at that time (20-25 some odd years ago).
Just one more reason to tell newer collectors to study, study, study and then study some more before letting loose of their hard earned dollars.

The odd thing is that he has tons of nice tabs he is parting with at this time as well. Maybe he came across everything as a huge lot and is selling it without knowledge of what is good or bad.
Paul
Hi Paul,
Probably the case... at least I hope so. As I agree, the tabs do look great.

Dan, Dan, Dan, what do you know...
This is an ultrarare combination of
Westwall-Medal for the Luftwaffe
The scarce Z?hringer Luftwaffen L?we
Iron Cross with golden eagle and half a sword
10 years NSDAP-cross for, uhm Luftwaffe?
I really hope, noone bid on this crap
Hi Gerd,
You've no idea how badly I needed the good laugh this brought me when I read it. Many thanks my friend!!!!
Far as I know no one bid.

The sad thing, of course, is that some beginning collector might have bought it, discovered their error, and then abandoned the 'hobby'. More 'new blood' lost thanks to the fraudsters.
Hi Ed,
Amen to that! Glad it's off... at least for now.

Hallo Dan
I see Ebay have removed this "abortion" from sale, wonder where it will turn up next
Kevin in Deva
Hi Kevin,
Needless to say I'm glad I did as recommended by Chairman Nick as otherwise this "beauty" would have been lost for all time
... unless it pops up somewhere else.
Perhaps this time is was a "good" collector with some knowledge that reported it just to get it off of there.
I was sorely tempted to write the seller and tell him what it was he had... but figured he'd think I was trying to get a deal or something. Who knows with people anymore. Arrrrrgh!

Hi Wild Card,
Very cool!!!!
And having the badge with matching number and the photo showing her wearing same... fantastic!!!!
Am interesting in learning more about this one. Great find!!!!
And I totally agree... having the picture in a doc but especially having awards with document(s) which are shown being worn in the photo... that's just about as good as it gets!

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I have!

Hi all,
Hoping this is the appropriate place for this. If not the powers that be can move it. But wanted to share it with you and hopefully it'll give ya'll a chuckle. I know I was just about rolling on the floor.
Found this last night and could barely believe my eyes. It's got to be about the worst I've ever seen:

Hi all,
I'm going to try this again. Seems there was a glitch in the system as originally on post #4 I'd posted the link to the auction, etc., only to discover it missing later.
I'd assumed it had been deleted by someone in admin but Nick says he checked the logs and that's not the case. So we'll give it another try. Here's the link to the auction:

Still no bids... not surprising with that kind of a price.
Anyhow be very interesting to see if it actually sells and for what kind of price.

Hi all,
Here's my latest addition to my documents collection:
Christian (Zulus) was kind enough to help me out with this one and gave me a better idea of what it is. Here's the info he gave me on it:
"That's an ID-card from an metallurgical factory named "TIPROSTAL", Order of the Red Banner of Labour, bla, bla - might be located at Rostov: ".... rostal".
It's a very nice and very late - 1989 - ID-card.
Seems to be a non-Russian: Valentin Lukich MARKIN, what makes it even more interesting."
Anyhow I think it's a very nice and very interesting ID document/booklet and I'm happy I could add it to the collection. Couldn't have done it without you Christian... many thanks!
Oh, Christian says to say his Russian is not that good and he doesn't have his dictionary with him so he's hoping some of the native speakers and other members who are good with Russian will jump in and help out on this one.

Dan! Nice medal bar.
Did you try torsten for the last one?
Hi Jeff,
Didn't even think of that. Mucho thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to give him a nudge. And many thanks for the compliment!

Yes, I am aware that many believe that "military music" is an oxymoron. However, I thought I'd share this photo in this thread.
What I think I've got here is a photo of musicians at the Central Asia Military District #5 Music Olympics held in Tashkent, Jan. 20, 1940. I think they fit in here under the "performing arts" umbrella. As I recall (not from this period personally, mind you), any entertainment was better than no entertainment. Maybe they weren't Bob Hope and Joey Heatherton (showing my age here) but they were living proof to the troops that they hadn't been forgotten. That was good enough.
Hi Chuck,
Great pic!
Generally we tend to see pics of military operations, training, etc., so it's nice to find something like this for a change. And in my mind it definitely goes along with the performing arts. Thanks so much for sharing this one!

Nice medal bar Dan !
Hi Grant,
Many thanks my friend!
To be honest I was never really big on the Civil Defense medals but as I'd never had a DDR bar I figured you've got to start somewhere. And the more I look at it the more I love it.
Kinda grows on you!
But I sure hope over time I can add a few more bars to my collection. I guess it's like cases... you get hooked on them!
Hey, if you happen to run into a gold Civil Defense for a good price, to match these and finish off the set... please give me a nudge.
Thanks again!

"Juwel-Case" with YU-Minis at e-bay
Gentlemen,
Dan "Hauptmann" told me, that the starting bid had been USD 1.500,- and the bidding is now well above USD 2.000,-
.
A lot of bucks for minis, which are no "real" orders
.
Best regards
Christian
Hi Christian,
Slight correction... the starting is indeed $1,500 but no bids and the "But It Now" price is $2,200.
Agree... a ton for minis. But again if this is like the state produced Hungarian cased awards they are "extremely" rare with only a couple of one and one of the other known.
But to me, one could purchase all the mini's and then put together or have a case made for much cheaper than these are running. But again they would not be an "officially state produced set"... if this is the case for these.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
That style of badge was worn from 1964 until 1985. When it arives please post a picture of the back and perhaps we can narrow it down a bit further.
Regards,
Gordon
Hi Gordon,
Will do!
Your wish is my command!
See... I should have been a Genie but so far I haven't seen the position in the job listings. I do try though.
Many thanks!

Hi Gordon,
So happy to see the pics. You really lucked out!!!! As I've told Charles I've been tempted to grab a flight and head over just so I can hit the markets with you guys. You're sooooooo lucky!![:jumping:](https://gmic.co.uk/uploads/default_jumping.gif)

Well, perhaps one day... have to get my Passport first... then make a ton of money so I can afford the trip and have enough to buy tons of goodies.
Just don't buy up all the good stuff before I get there... or better yet, buy it all up between the two of you and send a huge shipment back with Charles that he and I can divy up! ![:cheeky:](https://gmic.co.uk/uploads/default_cheeky.gif)
Keep up the great work! And thanks so much for sharing!!!!![](https://gmic.co.uk/uploads/default_beer.gif)
