Hi Larry,
I rather like the new look.
The ribbon colors work well with the award itself and the combination is very pleasing to the eye.
Many thanks for posting these. Sure be nice if some would turn up at a good price. At least one can always hope.

I've seen the same cross in 2nd class but couldn't inspect it closely. Could you show a closeup of the marks?
Hi Tom,
Really? I figured there had to be more... but this is the only one I'd ever seen. Got it as a toss in with a big trade deal I did years ago.
Not sure if those are marks or just imperfections... but I'll be happy to give it my best shot. But I'll have to do it later today as all the computer equipment/scanner in the bunker is shut down. It's 5:33 a.m. here and I'm just finishing a few E's before heading to bed. Have to be up for work in the morning and with luck I'll be home before too long and will either try then or after I grab a quick nap to try and catch up.
I've got a few more pieces to post but will try to do this first thing before I continue with that.

Yeah. The last I knew, there were only 15-20 Indian veterans of WWI left. (Entering service much younger, they have survived longer.) A friend of mine has gotten 8 or 10 of them on tape for extensive (one 4+ hours!) interviews. Soon . . . all finished!
Hi Ed,
Way to go!
If only things like that could be put on the web for widespread research and reference... or just sheer enjoyment for those of us who love history.
Please pass along compliments on a job well done.

Hi Dan,
I have to say that a real good job has been done by the French Ministry of Defense these last years. Not only have they published the booklet mentioned earlier, but they have also scanned all available combattant cards of french WW1 vets. This gives as a result an extremely well done, extensive and easy to consult database, as it is available on the web.
Last but not least, all Poilus have been honoured these last years : presence in official commemoration ceremonies, awards of the L?gion d'Honneur, attention of the media and stories published...
Cheers.
Ch.
Hi Christophe,
Very glad to hear it and sounds like they have indeed done a great job. As long as they are remembered they are still with us.

What's wrong with it Dan?
Tony
Hi Tony,
Seems L/14's are well known fakes as confirmed by several members in my original Wound Badge collection post:
http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7654&hl=
Luckily I don't have much in it or any of the other fakes or copies I have. Many were either gifts, part of bulk deals more or less as throw in's or were dirt cheap.
Anyhow I hope by posting these (mine and those belonging to others) that we're able to help newer collectors who would otherwise stumble and lose a bundle.
Thanks,
Dan

Okay, this one fooled me for a long time and seems I'm not the only one to fall for this type:

Okay, this one is just about just for laughs. I can only imagine it was made for bikers or something. It's made of solid brass!

What will they think of next?

The second example lost it's pin so I didn't show it.

Inexpensive pot metal copies but nice enough for display, don't cost an arm and a leg and like how many of us will ever be able to own an original period piece?

Was up till about 6 a.m. or thereabouts and had to be up early for work and this was just the pick-me-up I needed. Thankfully I won't be out that long today so I'm looking forward to some well earned sleep in just a few hours.
Thanks guys!![:D](https://gmic.co.uk/uploads/default_biggrin.png)
