I'm always skittish about these nowadays with all the fakes running around out there. I've needed/wanted one of these for years and finally managed to get one for a very good price. It's got the separately soldered ring and seems to look okay to these all but worn out eyes of mine... but hoping for a confirmation one way or the other. Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Hey Dean. You already know this but:

A quick question... how hard are these "Rothe" copies to find and about what could one expect to pay for one? I'd absolutely LOVE one of these FJO Knight's Crosses but fear originals would be well out of my price range... especially at the moment. I think these are one of the most beautiful Orders out there.
Many thanks in advance for any info.

Just got the word that a friend has gotten me three Austrian medals. My first additions to my Austrian collection in many years.

Hoping these count:

WOW Pete! I don't know about the rock and roll but sex wise methinks the collection had a ton of it... they were breeding like rabbits! Some awesome pieces there! I only wish I'd taken good pics like these of my early pieces. Alot of the ones I took were polaroids and they just don't show very much detail. But luckily a few 35mm's as well. Definitely trips down memory lane.
Re: the Luft eagle... no idea what it was off of but I sure do love it... wingtips or not. Just a great looking piece! Gotta rush off to work in a bit but will look at the pics a bit more when I get back. Just alot to take in.
Again many thanks for sharing!

Great pics! I especially LOVE that big Luft eagle. Do you still have that one? What's the story behind it?
Thanks for sharing these!

A bit of additional info on this one. It's made by Friedländer and dates to WW1. I'd asked Andreas (Andreas M. Schulze Ising) about it. He got me to check for markings and sure enough there's an FR between the top and right hand arms of the cross on the main circular part of the award. Again a shame about the enamel damage but A) had it not been for that I'd have not been able to afford it, B) I'm love underdogs and C) ones like this have definitely seen alot more history than one that sat in a case in a drawer all these years.
Many thanks to Andreas for his help on this one!

Just picked these up and thought I'd pop them up here in case anyone might know a bit more about them. They appear well made and are rather detailed. Anyhow I'll let the pictures say the rest.

Saw this a few days ago and this is the first chance I've had to post it. It's on Ebay (wonder of wonders!). No bids so relisted. Starting bid... GBP 74.99 / $108.43 U.S.

Here's the description:
ORIGINAL GERMAN 1957 VERSION OAKLEAVES, SWORDS AND DIAMONDS FROM STEINHAUER & LUCK, LUDENSCHEID.
JUST GOT FROM A GERMAN DEALER 100% ORIGINAL, SIDE OF LOOP HAS A MARK BUT CAN'T READ IT
THIS HAS 2 DIAMONDS SET IN IT, THE LEFT DIAMOND HAS ONLY 3 PRONGS OF THE ORIGINAL 4 LEFT OTHERWISWE IN MINT CONDITION.
I'M NOT SURE IF THE DIAMONDS ARE REAL BUT THEY DO SCRATCH GLASS SO I ASSUME THEY ARE.
I don't even bother to scratch my head and wonder anymore.

Sadly it doesn't have it's original screwback nut. Although this may have been done by the vet after losing the original... we'll never know. But for what I got it for I'm not complaining. Besides, I think it adds character.

I've finally managed to get ahold of a WW2 Guards badge. Wanted one for years.

Hello and welcome to the forum. First off here's the photo:
It's the Soviet Veteran of Labor medal.
This from The Soviet Military Awards Page: http://soviet-awards.com/ which is an extremely useful site for Soviet awards:
Established 18 January 1974. Awarded to all workers of retirement age for their many years of labor in the Soviet economy, culture, science, medicine, and education. This medal could also be given to military personnel who had reached retirement age. It is made of a Zinc and Copper alloy. Approximately 36,000,000 were issued.
These are quite common and can generally be picked up for just a few dollars.
Hope this helps.

Hi all,
Here's a couple of stickpins I just managed to acquire. Way back in the days before the fall of the wall when such things were few and far between I got a large grouping of mostly TR pieces. In it was a single stickpin like the first one below. I was stupid and let it go. Been wanting another one ever since I got into Soviet collecting. It's taken me a ton of years but without further ado here they are:
1950's 3/4 inch:
Pre 1970's 1/2 inch:
If any of you happen to have similar examples say from different time periods I'd love to see them.

Bill... THANK YOU SO MUCH for that link!!!! I've been looking for that for years now! I'd seen it way back (or at least one I think was the same) and then lost it between computers and try and I might I could never find it again. I've wanted cases for my Olympic medal and decorations plus a few other pieces and haven't been able to find them anywhere else. This is PERFECT!
Again thank you so much... you're a life saver!!!!
