Another 30th Anniversary of the Red Army medal. Again a very salty, vet worn look which is what I love! These both look like they've been there, done that... and if only they could talk the things they've seen!

Hi Theodor,
Many thanks for the additional info as well as that great picture! It definitely confirms what I'd learned... funny enough on Ebay!
For the longest time I'd thought it was a slightly fancier Soviet one but good to be able to ID it properly and put it where it belongs.

Hi all,
I originally thought this was a Soviet finial but it seems that was incorrect. Seems it's a Bulgarian finial so figured I'd post it over here.
Any additional info would be deeply appreciated.

Not an Order but my latest:
These seem to have been drying up over the last year or two. Or at least at decent prices. Same with the 40th Anniversary medals.

Finally another new addition to my Russian Federation awards. The medal for Bravery During Fire.
Created January 24, 2001 and issued by the Interior Ministry to members of the Interior Ministry, the military forces of the Interior Ministry, employees of the state fire service and in some cases other citizens of the Russian Federation. Awarded for courage and dedication while extinguishing fires, saving lives and property from fire, for leadership in fires and rescues and courage, determination and high professionalism as demonstrated in preventing an explosion or fire.

Well... finally reached the big number 10! Here's my latest addition... again a bit of damage but one never knows the interesting stories that may lie hidden there. It's definitely been there and done that. If only they could talk... but as soon as I start to dive into researching I'm hoping it will.

Very nice - you scored a very rare and complete 1969 version. This one is the only one I have seen cased and complete.
Hi Charles,
Many thanks my friend! I was hoping this was still the case as when I read through the "big" thread I believe that was the comment you'd made back then as well. I know Gordon showed one of the 1959's as a cased set but no 69's. Hoping against hope for the 59 now. Will post it if I get it.
And again many congratulations on your book! I can't wait to get a copy!!!!

Hi all,
Well, it's been quite a few months since I've had anything new to add here but just come on this one. Been wanting one for ages and now only need the 1959 to finish the set:
I love the design on this one.

Hi Rick,
Sorry for the delayed reply on my part. Been up to my ears and beyond. Many thanks for the info and translation. Hoping to learn more about it over time... although from what I've seen there seem to be a whole range of these types of "Honored" or similar type awards. One could almost specialize in nothing but these and have a huge collection with all the variations, etc. I don't think it would be possible to run out of pieces to collect.

Hi,
"There is also a bronze and a gold grade"
No, it is one grade in different colours and in different material, differently enamelled and varnished.
Uwe
Thanks for the additional info Uwe. But that's certainly a confusing way for them to have done it... what with nearly everything else they or the TR, etc., ever did being in either bronze, silver and gold or black, silver and gold. Anything to throw a monkey wrench into the works I guess. Oh well... live and learn.

And i don't know what this is for , i,m sure you,ll enlighten me !
Hi Grant,
Great additions to your collection my friend! This one is the Honor Pin for Merit in the Socialist Education Program. There is also a bronze and a gold grade. You can see my gold example which is also cased here on post #16:

Hope this helps out.
Keep up the great work!

Hi all,
I need a couple of lengths of Soviet Bravery (Valor) medal ribbon if anyone has any they can spare.
Will keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks!

Hi all,
Not positive if that's the correct title but that's what the seller called it. Any additional information would be deeply appreciated.

Oho!!!! NEVER seen a PLASTIC BACKED one like that-- MUCH much better quality than the usual Potemkin Vilage horrors...
any maker mark or price/date impressed into it?
That's a First Sighting for me!
Hi Rick,
Wow... it's not often I can find something that you've not seen before. I'm honored! I'd not seen any either and I just could not resist... she's a beaut!
No idea on markings... I'll try and ask if I can but if nothing else I'll check it out thoroughly when it arrives. But it's coming from Israel (should be shipping out tomorrow) and I'm guessing will be a couple of weeks... but one never knows. It's coming with my latest ORS. Hoping you'll check that out... but from what I found in the green bible I'm guessing it's a 1953 long service.
Anyhow I'll keep you posted on this one for sure.

My latest addition to the ribbon collection. A plastic backing with plastic protected ribbons. I couldn't pass it up!
Pics are the sellers (Vladimir Shifrin in Israel).
This is my first of this type and to be honest I can't remember seeing others like it although I'm sure they're out there.
As always opinions are most welcome.

Thanks Rick! I've definitely got to start getting my stuff researched soon. Hopefully after Christmas I can jump into the deep end of the pool.
Well, I just came by another one. Serial number 3105987. Does this one fall into the 1953 long service awards?
Sadly with some enamel damage but the price was right and I do love the underdogs! And they also seem to have some of the most interesting stories behind them.
Pictures are from the seller (Vladimir Shifrin in Israel). So it'll probably be a bit before I have it in hand.
Number 9 and counting!
