Dan, I love these PRAO's, and have several. The variation in the painting of the eagle as well as the numerous different manufacturers make these very interesting. Too bad that higher grades of the order have become so pricey in recent years. I'm still looking for a reasonably priced second class for my collection.

Sure hope you find one before too long! My problem is I LOVE the enameled Orders more than anything... and of course they're generally the most expensive. How I'd dearly love a Hohenzollern Order, an Order of the Crown and an Order of the Zahringer Lion. But probably going to have to settle for copies as I fear they are all well beyond my budget.

I never realized they'd reissued these in 57 as well but Grant and several others confirmed it. It's another one I'm eagerly awaiting it's arrival in the mail from Germany. Can't wait to see it in person!

Once upon a time I had a nice Hamburg and let it go. Would love to get a full set at some point but I don't tend to find too many bargains in Imperial awards... wish I could. I would also dearly love a Hohenzollern Order and an Order of the Crown not to mention an Order of the Zahringen Lion. So many beautiful Orders... so little time and money. Sigh.
