1st: Croix de Guerre. The bronze Palm indicates that he was mention in the Order of the Day on an Army level. "A" on the Palm is for King Albert indicating it's the 1914/1918 cross
2nd: Another Croix de Guerre which along with the other 2 would indicate it's also a 1914/18 cross
3rd: The Commemorative medal for the War 1914/18. As Rick stated the crown etc. As far as the front stripes they were issued one silver bar per "Front stripe" These were awarded for front line duty. The first stripe was for a year and every 6 months after that. One gilt bar would replace 5 silver. There was also a black stripe for POW time.
4th: The Fire Cross 1914/18. There were 3 different styles, yours is the first style.
Check out Hendriks site?tis the best in the world for Belgian medals

I will let you troll the medal sites to price them out; none are worth more than $50USD though.
Hope this helps a bit
Hi Laurence,
Many thanks for all this great info. I've just sent off an email passing it along. Deeply appreciate all your help and that of everyone else this evening. And I'm learning a good deal myself which is always a good thing.
Thanks again!

WTH is an "original copy"???
Originals are easily US$500+
Fakes, maybe US$20
The example above is a repro meant to deceive, but is easily given away by incorrect hardware, poor obverse details and blurry maker mark.
Regards
Mike
Hi Mike,
I know... I basically thought the same thing when he told me this. But I understand as he's normally not into militaria... western memorabilia is more his thing. He got this stuff and now he's seeing alot of the German end up bad. He knew going in some was but I can understand how disappointing it is. But he's treating it as a learning experience so he'll be better prepared in future.
I think it comes down to grasping at straws. I know we've all been there at some point or another along the way.
Many thanks for helping out!!!

Agreed, you'd almost expect to see a palm between the two... Any small puncture holes invisible on the picture?
Pop me over an email:
dwatson@daktel.com
and I'll send you over a bigger version of the scan which will show you the details you'll need.
Thanks!!!!

Actually, the clues are in the present crest of Paris.
You'll notice 3 awards below the city crest, they were presented to the city (and not to the fire dept).
L?gion d'Honneur - 9 October 1900
Croix de Guerre (14-18) - 28 July 1919
Croix de la Lib?ration - 2 April 1945
The L?gion d'Honneur is actually part of the city crest on your pin. This puts this particular article between 9 October 1900 and 28 July 1919 when the CDG was awarded.
So the axes are definitely not Vichy.
Hope this helps!
Oh definitely!!!! A terrific job! Many thanks!!!!

Another quick question on this one. The owner has heard somewhere that "original" copies by this maker could be worth up to $400. I think this is incorrect... I believe I've seen these or similar before but just passing along what he's been told.
Is there any truth to this or is this just a common fake and worth little or nothing?
Again any help most appreciated!!!!

No-- in this case they are simply firemen's axes. No other input, alas. I recognize Draco as a well known maker's name, but that's it. When this would have been worn...?
Dear Rick,
In translating the wording the only word I can get is Pompiers which is Firefighters. But I can't get the others to translate. So definitely something to do with the fire department and again I think it would be in Paris. I was given a keychain when I was in high school French by my teacher. It's from Paris and has that same ship/water symbolism on it. And of course this has the flames on the edges. Hoping someone may come up with more info yet.
Thanks!!!!

Hi all,
Wasn't sure on this one... believe the axes were used by Vichy so didn't know if there was a connection. Belive the ship has to do with Paris... but again not positive. Any help on this one and possibly a rough value would be deeply appreciated:
