    1. Martin: Nice observation--the first meetings were smaller, but the popularity of the meetings (and the attendance) grew over the years. Atlantis' meetings got to the point where they were scheduled as weekend-long events with A LOT of attendees. a handful of Kormoran crew did immigrate back to Australia. There was no choosing to "stay" after the war ended. All had to go through the process of requesting to move back...find a sponsor, show guarantee or at least prospect of a job, et al. Joe
    2. Yes Martin, most used to have a Kameradschaft. A couple started during the war, but most started a few years after the war ended. Here is a photo from Atlantis' first meeting.
    3. Martin: That is a wonderful Kameradschaft document. I especially like the updates listed about the former crewmen. Orion started their Kameradschaft while the war was still raging too. (1943, I think) Here is the cover of their #3 Kameradschaft booklet. Joe
    4. Hi Martin and all: Here is what I firmly believe to be an on-board issued equator crossing document from Orion. (I have known on-board documents from Komet and these match the same type of paper, printing and copy style) Joe
    5. Wow! I just went through this entire thread. What an amazing model and narrative to take us along as it was built. Thanks! Joe Slavick
    6. Thanks Bernhard! The complete name is extremely valuable to me. I am trying to compile a complete listing of all HSK crewmen with as much biographical information on each man as I can find. Righ now I currently have 2555 individual names and data points---- and that accounts for the majority of the crews as a lot of the men served on more than one HSK. Yes I was very pleased to find the photo of some of Thor's officers. Thank you for the wonderful information! Joe
    7. Urrghh...Gordon: Any chance the name is actually Stoeweiand instead of Stoewesand? Stoeweiand does appear as a Ltn.z.S. in the 1939 Offizier-Wohnungs und Geburstagsanzeiger der Kriegsmarine book. No listing for Stoewasand. Joe
    8. Another one I like--these come in with lots and I keep them for trade fodder.... Anyway: 3 mineseeper visible, 2 WW1 u-boat badges, a Silesian Eagle first class, a Duty Watch Officer Badge, and EK1 and some various sport badges. Joe
    9. Great post and great photos. Staying with the Field Grey theme. Here are four relaxing. From the left (unknown), then blocked by glue.."mmel" with a minesweeper, then Kröger with EK2, HSF and a minesweeper (possible to figure which big ship?) and finally "Roesch" with the EK2 and the HSF (maybe researchable too)! Joe
    10. Gordon: Thanks! You're correct! And now that you've told me...it becomes plainly obvious to me...geez, Sometimes I wonder where my brain goes at times. Some more good info to add into my data base. I currently have 2555 individual names and data points---- and that accounts for the majority of the crews as a lot of the men (as you know) served on more than one HSK. It is a coup for me when I find a new name. Unfortunately the caption only tells me he was an Oblnt z.S. and on the ship. It doesn't tell me what he did! Thanks again. Joe
    11. Hello al: Just got a new photo and I am trying to assign names to everyone in the picture. I can already see I screwed up with translating name correctly!! Can someone provide a solid spelling? And does anybody recognize the guy with the armband? Thanks! Joe
    12. Martin: Just a touch more info about your LzS d.R (on PINGUIN) Ludolf Petersen Photo. He was also a member of DUSQUESA Prize Crew. He transfered from ADMIRAL SCHEER to PINGUIN as a Prize Officer. Placed aboard one of PINGUIN's captured Norwegian whalers, the STAR XXI, and successfully sailed it to Bordeaux. And of course later went on to sail aboard STIER as an OLtnzS d.R.
    13. Gordon! Wow! What great info. That is fantastic. This will go along way in filling in yet another information gap in my crew list! Wow. Thanks for the information. Terrible to see his date of death so late in the war. Do you have any other specifics? Is it possible to post your file photo of him? Much appreciation, Joe
    14. I think there must be a VERY finite number of men who #1: were senior enlisted rank, #2: Earned the DKiG, #3: Served on U-boats AND #4: Served on an auxiliary cruiser. Is there a list available of all KM enlisted men who earned the DKiG? I could then cross-reference that with U-crews and then cross-reference against my Auxiliary Cruiser crew list. Can anyone help with the first list--the KM DKiG recipients? Joe
    15. This is absolutely one of my favorite studio photos. A crewman from Atlantis, who I have corresponded with for years. What an absolutly wonderful array of badges!
    16. Chris: Were these the Bordzeitung that you owned? Note Karsten's initials in the upper right corner. Joe
    17. Here is my copy. As stated it is a pretty scarce find. A friend of mine found one on eBay in an obscure category and got it for $15.00!
