    3. In my opinion modern made replacement ribbon are far coarser in weave and texture, they also may differ in width and are far thicker in construction to the original ribbon, either by being a couple of millimeters larger or small than the original items. Kevin in Deva (actually in Bucharest )
    4. Hallo Mervyn, I have been attending the St. Pats event in Bucharest for the last four years now on the 17th and the next day I usually spend in the Romanian Military Museum, there is no restriction with regards pictures, one simply pays their entrance admission and a small Photographic fee and you get a badge to wear, once you have the badge you are free to click away for as long as the camera batteries last. I usually enter at 09:30 and leave about 16:30 hrs. Hopefully I can get some snap shots of Police cars etc..etc.. I must look for a link to the Romanian Police Force website as well, I believe they have their own museum in Bucharest, however I do not think I will get a chance to visit on this occasion as I will only be there for 3 days starting off leaving home by train at 06:49 on Thursday 17th March and arriving in Bucharest at 16:00 that afternoon, the Irish Embassy "do" kicks of at the Hilton about 18:45, the next day (18th)will be the Romanian Military Museum, and Saturday morning off to Belleu Cemetery and possibly the Military Aviation Museum and then I will be jumping on the midnight train back to Deva, arriving about 09:00 on Sunday morning. Kevin in Deva.
    5. Hallo Mervyn, no idea as to what they Turkish were using however maybe I will get some idea at the Romanian Military Museum in Bucharest on Friday 18th March if the building housing the section on Firearms and edged weapons is open, it was shut last year when I visited, and no explanation given as to why. The muzzle housing is 2cm in diameter on the inside by 10,5 cm long. The blade being 3,5 cm wide. It must have been fairly intimidating when facing them advancing towards you. :speechless1: Found this from a quick online search:- And:- http://www.militaryrifles.com/Turkey/Plevna/ThePlevnaDelay.html Kevin in Deva.

Kevin in Deva.
    9. My opinion is a ground find as well. I believe possession of the Fire Cross could land the owner or his family in hot water if found under the Communist regime, Many were discarded. Kevin in Deva.

    12. :jumping: Picture 26 Picture 27 Picture 28 Not identified on the pictures, but verbally identified as Captain Nicolescu Constantin, who ended up a Lieutenant-General in the Romanian Military (1887 – 1972) I was extremely lucky in recently acquiring General Nicolescu Constantin Officers sword for a friend in Deva, the seller later gave me the pictures and a compass that belonged to him as well. Kevin in Deva
    13. If I recall correctly this small pack clips directly to the back of one of the combat-jackets, it seems the Swiss were utilizing a system where the canvass style Yoke and pouches were replaced by an integral system sewn directly to the outside of the combat jacket. Very nice items by the way. Kevin in Deva.
    14. Dear Megan, With regards my pictures give me a few hours to take better pictures in daylight I will replace the current ones I posted taken under electric light then you can use them on your site. Kevin in Deva.

    17. Picture 24 A young Romanian Military WW1 veteran on his wedding day. 1. Romanian Cross of War for WW1 with 3 battle bars. 2. Romanian Inter-Allied Victory Medal for WW1. This stripe indicates having been wounded in action as opposed to a service stripe as far as I can find out. The sword with knot tucked away and nearly out of sight. Kevin in Deva.
    18. Picture 22 A Dapper Gent sporting the Romanian Order of the Crown of Romania, Civil Model. And in Picture 23 same Gent. his awards upgraded to:- 1. Romanian Order of the Star of Romania with swords. 2. Romanian Order of the Crown of Romania (even though on a Civil ribbon it clearly has swords. 3. Romanian Service Cross for 18 - 25 years in the Civil Service. 4. Romanian 100 Centenary of King Carol I Medal. Kevin in Deva.
    19. Picture 21 A Group of Boy Scout Officers, many sporting military ribbons as some possibly saw service in World War 1 as teenagers. Close-up showing awards and the belt buckle specific to the Scouts. Under magnification the medal worn by the gentleman with the mustache on the left of the picture is a Romanian Medical Merit award. Also of particular interest is the lady wearing a white beret, she is an officer of the Sentinels organisation. The style of the male uniforms puts me in mind of the "Baden Powell" look which is very familiar to anybody connected with scouting. The rear as a penned notation:- "21 May 1936 Bucharest." Kevin in Deva.
