Hello Gentlemen, Bought a small convolute last Saturday at the flea-market. From a Wehrmacht signals Unteroffizier - Alois Engelhardt killed in the last days of the war in Berlin. In the convolute is a two page Croatian award document "Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir 2nd Class with Oak Leaves" and a congratulatory notification from his unit leader on the Croatian award. I've looked extensively through the internet but not managed to find a medal that matches the award document yet, King Zvonimir 2nd Class with oak leaves military version. King Zvonimir Medal has a number of grades & variants, as we have a number of collectors from the Balkans & Southeast Europe area, I thought one may have a medal and they wouldn't mind posting a picture. Any information and pictures welcome. I've included two picture of the citation document. Best Wishes

Fleamarket Find - Medal Convolute
AlecH replied to AlecH's topic in Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Thank you Kevin for your kind words. A generalist Third Reich collector - main areas of interest equipment, uniforms. I do take the occasional medal, badge or tinnie when they come along at the right price. Just starting to put together a collection of WW2 Iron Crosses 2 Class from different makers. Paying 50 - 60 euro a pop perhaps one of the last affordable collecting sections open to collectors of third reich medals. However, again thanks for the words of encouragement. Best Wishes -
Fleamarket Find - Medal Convolute

Thanks for the posts - Pete, it had crossed my mind that it could be a bronze award on the wrong ribbon. The more I look at it, the more my thinking comes into line with your suggestion. There is not a single trace of the silver wash on the medal, I need another ribbon. Regards -

Hi Everyone, After a couple of barren weekends at various flea-markets, I was fortunate enough on Saturday to turn up a three medal convolute, plus a RAD cap badge and tinnie / broach. 4 year and 12 year Luftwaffe Service Medals both on ribbon with clips 2nd form RAD cap badge from Arbeitsgau XXX Bayern - Hochland WW1- von Hindernburg tinnie / broach Finally a small mystery, Bravery award to a member of a Eastern Folk Group, looking at the ribbon it should be from the silver class. As you can see every last trace of the silver wash has disappeared (if it was ever there) I'm thinking of giving it a silver dip. What would members advise. Any advice welcome. Regards

Nice one Wood - its one I've been looking for, for many a long day. Lived and worked five years in Pfronten, the mountain behind the church is called the Breitenberg - spent many a happy Sunday skiing on its plateau. Good Find. -

DRK Buckle - Authentic ?
AlecH replied to AlecH's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
Hi Rob, I didn't take the buckle first shown - eagle's head & swazy were scuffed. I did eventually find a DRK buckle and belt, amongst the buckles & belts I bought from the collector who is partly selling off his equipment pieces. Again a Overhoff piece, this time with belt, cost 100 euro without damage, happy with the price. Sort of completes the circle Regards -
Hello Gentlemen, At the weekend, picked up two Urkunden measuring 15 cm x 21 cm belonging to one Anhegger Friedl. One is for being a participant in a "job competition all working Germans" which took place in Berlin, looking at the eagle and the HJ raute at the top of the Urkunde, makes me wonder if she was in the BDM. The second one is dated a year later "Mütterschlungs-Lehrgang" for a health and sick care course, run by "Deutsches Frauenwert" organisation. Have members seen similar documents to these? do they have further information about these work competitions? were they anything to do with BDM organisation ? was there any link up between BDM and Deutschen-Frauenwerk ? information welcome. Regards

Hello Gentlemen, Looking through Detlev Niemann newest 2009 German Medal Cataloge, the section concerning repeat spange for EK1 has listed one class described as "2 Form Silber 800" which I take to be a jeweler's private purchase piece made for officers or individuals who wanted such a piece. Looking through the section repeat spange for EK2, this class "Silber 800" is not there, does that mean (assuming I'm right) that no private purchases pieces were made of EK2 Repeat Spanges. If not, does any member know why not? Any information welcome Regards

Hi Rob, Thanks for the post and the snips its of information. I did after reading it, look through a number of military forums that have substantial belt & buckle forums, came across pictures of genuine student buckles as you say all were aluminium pieces. I didn't see any offer, you write you had a ten year wait - phew don't think I've so much patience, what would I be looking at to buy a real piece. The one I showed went for 72 euro. Again, thanks for the information. Regards Alec

Hello Joe, Thanks for your post. Yes your right, a banner is a more apt description. I neglected to say I'd run a UV light over the banner, to my relief it stayed dark. Thanks again for the information. Regards Alec

Hello Gentlemen, I recently purchased this flag, measures 78cm x 150cm from a acquaintance, whose job is clearing out properties and selling off the contents, he found this flag, rolled up under a deceased farmer's bed. I have no reason to believe that it is a reproduction / fake, but would like to make sure. The flag - one sided, appears to be made in two piece construction, red background, on which is sown large white circle. The black swastika appears to be printed on the white circle. The flag's bottom corners left & right have weights sown into them. Have found no stamps or markings on the flag. The hanging pole came together with the flag. I do have a couple of questions about the flag, which members may be able to help me with, (1) what's the purpose of the flag? (2) can you tell if its early or late war ? (3) how does the condition match up against other flags, you have seen? Any information welcome Regards AlecH

Hello Gentlemen, Just returned from a local flea-market. One of the traders offered me the helmet shown, he thinks its a Luftwaffe Flak or Panzer Grenadier helmet. The inner lining, chinstrap are missing, the inside band is there, stamped on the inside - h4054 (I think),the camouflage paint has in places flaked away, the paint feels hard. I wonder do members recognize this camouflage pattern, is it a serious period piece ? if yes, from which branch ? even with my scant helmet knowledge, find it hard to see it belonging to Luftwaffe Flak Unit?- any information more than welcome. Regards

Australian Hand-Embroidered Cover - Palestine 1940 Hello Everyone, Popped into a antique shop during the week, was shown this, what I take for a small hand-embroidered table cloth from a Australian soldier based in Palestine 1940, measures about 45 cm sq. Reads - 2/2 Field Regt. Australiancommonwealth (Cant Read) Forever To Marion and George From Arthur Palestine 1940 At the time I didn't have a great deal of interest in it, just knocked off a couple of quick pictures, which you see. With hindsight it could be worth something. What do members think? not often that one comes across a item connected with Australian troops in Palestine 1940. Any information & valuation welcome. Regards
