Steve C Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hi Guys, anybody any thoughts on the S&L KC on www.militaria-baldes.denew items, documents?Has it ever been established that a 935-4 was ever awarded to an individual?or that these were around in september 1944?RegardsSteve C
DavidM Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 HelloApparently it is known that are recipients of the 935-4 RKs. Vern Bowen in his book 'The Prussian and German Iron Cross' notes one RK marked 935-4 which was the award cross to a known recipient. That said, it was the only one out of 40 RKs, (all recipients known according to Bowen), examined by Bowen. The predominant markings Bowen encountered were L/12 800, (9 out of the 40), and just 800, (15 out of the 40).
Richard Gordon Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I also understand that these have come directly from the veterans that captured them in May 1945. With any unproven story, it must only be taken at face value.Rich
